Hi,

I would like to see if I could contribute to fixing up the game's text. Currently, certain flavour texts are unfinished, display incorrect info (i.e armoured skeleton upgrade says that it only upgrades spearmen) and most have certain spelling or grammar issues.

Feel free to post it here!
It is always appreciated!

Use
your text
construction for that to make things easier to read for stratego.

I've done another batch of adding and rewriting. However, I'm unsure of the exact code of these entries, so I've simply given names.

Code: Select all

Soul Collector - A spirit holding souls of the once living. Move this into a production building in order to speed it up.
Storm Knight - Storm Knights are a special breed of undead knight. Able to channel the power of lightning into its great lance, it is able to paralyse any enemy.
Necromancer - Necromancers are undead mages which are adept at reanimating corpses. It can summon colossal flesh golems and preserve the structure of disintegrating units.
Banshee - A wild spirit screaming in anguish and grief. Captured by the undead, it is destined to inflict piercing shrieks, crippling unfortunate victims.
Lich - The Lich is the backbone of the undead's strength. It can summon skeletal warriors and knights from corpses in a massive area, spawning entire armies in mere seconds.
Mummy - Mummies are ancient spellcasters brought back to support the armies of the dead. They have dangerous spells to terrorise the enemies, especially with their ancient curse. Who knows what life they lead in the past, maybe as Pharoahs.
Gargoyle - Gargoyles are constructs found in undead mansions. They fling themselves into walls, inflicting colossal damage.
Skeletal Dragon - The reanimated corpse of one of the most powerful beasts of nature. Its fire has been replaced with noxious poison breath, although this is likely due to bad dental hygeine.
Undead Wagon - A wagon used by the undead. Transports ground units, but lacks the cushioned seats of other races.
Hooded Figure - A mysterious figure aligned with the undead. Nothing much is known, but those who come near it feel a dark buildup of cursed magic.
Bone Wall - A wall formed from bones. Resists the movement of troops and has a comfty viewing spot lined by intestines.
Skull Gate - An improvised gate formed from a massive skull.
Spirit Tower - This tower is a means to keep in place the restless souls animating golems. They are a fundamental part of undead fortresses, keeping their defenders from disintegrating into bones.
Graveyard - The main site for undead fighters, where corpses are animated to proper fighting form. Hosts massive parties every century.
Crypt - This place is the burial site for many undead mages. Crypts slowly reawaken them to serve, enchanting those inside with the knowledge of powerful curses.
Mansion - An abandoned, haunted mansion. Unlike the ones made for amusement by humans, undead mansions are genuine threats that breed some of the strongest fighters.
Dark Altar - The Dark Altar is where the most evil rituals occur. Often, Necromancers come here to summon powerful knights and dangerous beasts.
Basic Corpse - The remains of a citizen, an unfortunate casualty of undead attacks.
Dead swordman - The remains of a soldier, fallen in battle. Its sword is dulled from years of combat.
Dead spearman - The remains of a soldier carrying a spear. Smells like horse meat, cooked.
Dead mage - The remains of a mage. Weak magic still eminates from it - It could be dangerous.
Corpse worker - The remains of a not-so-lucky worker.
Corpse thrower - The remains of a soldier that throws. Liches enjoy playing catch with their spears and axes before reanimating them.
Corpse with a bow - The remains of a soldier carrying a bow. Its strings have been worn down to nothing.
Corpse with horse - The remains of a mounted soldier and its rider. Trampling wounds are evident.
Corpse of horse with sword - The remains of a mounted fighter. It seems that the horse remained loyal until the end.
Corpse of horse with spear - The remains of a lancer, who was part of the worst jousting accident.
Corpse of horse maceman - The remains of a mounted maceman.
Corpse of horse archer - The remains of a mounted archer.
Dragon Corpse - The remains of a mighty beast. It takes a worker many weeks to fully pluck the arrows out of it.
Dead Pirate - The remains of a sailor gone down with its ship.
Undead Transport Ship - A massi

Nice, however I would like to point out that the necromancer isn't undead but actually a human working with undead.

Undeads will later get more living cult units serving them later.

As for replacing these names with Stratego's format, do these just follow ENTITY_TXT_RACE_NAME or are there exceptions? If Necromancer follows this rule, it would be UNIT_TXT_UND_NECROMANCER.

Here are some Unit description strings that are missing in the most recent version.

<string name="UNIT_TXT_DWARF_CLERIC">A dwarven cleric is a battlefield priest and healer, capable of both effective melee combat and unit support.</string>

<string name="UNIT_TXT_DWARF_CLERIC_1">An upgrade of the dwarven cleric, with increased combat and healing capabilities.</string>

<string name="UNIT_TXT_MOUNTED_CLERIC_2">A second upgrade of the mounted cleric, with further increased combat and healing capabilities.</string>

I haven't been able to test these strings, as my I am having trouble getting my developer version of the game to run. If someone is able to test these strings for me, it would be well appreciated. I've tried to describe each unit based solely on its abilities, I believe they are fairly accurate.

i like this one:
<string name="UNIT_TXT_DWARF_CLERIC">A dwarven cleric is a battlefield priest and healer, trained in the rune based arts and learned in the ways of the ancient Dwarf mystics. </string>
but this one is also visible from the stats (that is it an upgarde of the previous version)
<string name="UNIT_TXT_DWARF_CLERIC_1">An upgrade of the dwarven cleric, with increased knowledge of the Dwarf Mystic arts.</string>
maybe you can put here the text of the original? like this?
<string name="UNIT_TXT_DWARF_CLERIC_1">An upgrade of the dwarven cleric, a dwarven cleric is a battlefield priest and healer, trained in the rune based arts and learned in the ways of the ancient Dwarf mystics. </string>
andsame for all other i think would be good( as all 1st level texts rseems nice! thanks!)

I haven't been able to run these through a modded version, since I'm having a lot of trouble getting my developer version to run properly.
So, I'm only 99% sure these are free from typos.

you can check the typos from here on the text you wrote.
so no need to check tru game.

the id-s like "UNIT_TXT_ELF_DEER_TOWN_WATCH" must not have been TYPED so typos are not applyable - please confirn that you have not typed anything apart from the texts itself like "A great eagle and its elven rider. Its eyes can see every corner of the battlefield."

My apologies, I have just found your post with the missing texts list. Shall I copy over all descriptions into that list?
