Greek Fire

Post by K00 »

I don't know why no one mentioned it, but why not put Greek fire in the game.

Let's make greek fire a technology upgrade for all ships. Cost 8 turns to develop. The fire acts like posion to sea units. The posion is only stopped when the ship is repaired by a worker, goes to town, or to port. The posion should be great. Maybe 1/6 of a units life.
Anything is feasible with enough money and power.

I approve. I have personally never heard of greek fire that isnt on boats, but the greek fire towers sound exactly like what i need to keep those pesty warships away... Like the old saying:

Some greek fire each day keeps the warships at bay

Greek fire units (needs greek fire technology)

Siphon, flamethrower that Byzantium used to fire greek fire
Cost 6, power 8-10, range 2, makes area damage, have burning effect, speed 1, not very much hp, bonuses vs wooden units and structures.

Siphon ship, like siphon but ship
Cost 8, speed 5, hp 30, other are same with siphon

Greek fire grenade thrower, throws grenades which are filled by greek fire.
Cost 3, power 5, range 3, have burning effect, hp 11, speed 3, bonuses vs structures and wooden units (bonuses are bigger than fire archers)

Greek fire catapult, like catapult but shoots greek fire
Cost 9-10, power 30-35, range 7, makes area damage, have burning effect, speed 1, not much hp

about some of your ideas, why don't just add a burning effect to the existent unict/structures?
Once you research the technology "greek fire" you unlock, for example, a greek fire fortress, and once you research it you add the burning effect to any fortrosse you build or control

Hm, I think the grenades might be a bit too much.

And the picture is a good start, but it deffinately needs alot of work ;)

Yes, but I've never heard them called grenades. They were like pottery, right?
