I probably know what it's about, but if I am right the name is all wrong.

"Detinets" (russian детинец) sounds a lot like polish "Dziedziniec" which is actually only an open space inside castle, monastery or just some civilian building. So a courtyard.
It could have been a mistake, because from what I remember Unesco made few of russian courtyards world cultural heritage special places.
Just like in Poland some of market squares are, so somebody could propose "Rynek" as a special building for slavic culture.
It's really just about old city, main square, etc. - the oldest part of town, protected by walls for centuries (so relatively undamaged).
The only difference between them is name used.

In Poland we named defensive structures Gród (Gord, Gorod in other slavic languages), which were motte and bailey castle types, but also often just a name used if whole settling was fortified. Most historians in Poland only uses that name towards mostly wooden fortifications though.
Then there is also Zamek (castle), which in most cases is used as a name for defensive structure also being a residence of some noble, which doesn't contain whole city - only central structure is named that.
Plus we also use Twierdza or Forteca, which would literally mean Stronghold or Fortress - a whole fortified city.

In whole rus most defensive structures were named Kreml (russian кремль) which contain some most important buildings inside.

Nice image, but as it's strictly referring to Eastern Slavs - If I were to bring it to the game, then there would need to be another one for Western Slavs.
