There is a textual filter in help, but it filters only the currently selected unit "class" (eg. Archers) so the result can be empty if the searched unit is not archer.
what if i set that the textual filter will filter all categories?
---------------
additional idea: the textual filter would set the "class" filter icon to a new "All" setting (resulting the same)

Re: Unit selection (in help)
Why not keep it current selected "class" only, but add the "All" "class", so that it could filter by "class" or not depending on which one you are looking at?
A new idea (afaik): let players search by spec too with something like "[Fortification]" in the search bar, so that you could search, for example, all [Heavy Infantry] units to see, for example, against which units a maceman will be effective, without having to either memorize or check one by one.

Green is the correct color, other colors are "less correct".
Re: Unit selection (in help)
Actually it could often be good to have All in category filter.
Is it easy to make it programmatically or better to just add filter category for that?
Then filter could be used when on All page or in specific category.
Also I think current filter is not so useful, because it searches only for unit name.
And in many cases that one thing is what I don't exactly remember.
If I had system language on phone set to something other than english - search filter would be totally useless to be, because of string mismatch (some translated and some left original, even though game language is set to english).
Maybe it could be good to have some option to search through categories, specs, abilities, descriptions (well, personally unitTypeName would be most useful probably, but that one would be really confusing to regular players - maybe for dev only)?
Like toggable in options to later affect all those searches?

You wrote those first - sorry.b2198 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 06, 2022 6:52 pm Why not keep it current selected "class" only, but add the "All" "class", so that it could filter by "class" or not depending on which one you are looking at?

Anyway - I agree to any extension to pure name search.

Re: Unit selection (in help)
actually we are now on on-demand load - so none of those data are available to search for.
except categories and specunitactions - those are available.

Re: Unit selection (in help)
OK - scratch abilities and descriptions.
But specs, categories and unitTypeName is possible, right?

Re: Unit selection (in help)
specs and categories yes - however can cause confusion: eg. why a unit is listed that has nothing similar in name.
what do u mean by unittypename?

Categories could be searched by square brackets as special character.Stratego (dev) wrote: ↑Sun Mar 06, 2022 8:17 pm specs and categories yes - however can cause confusion: eg. why a unit is listed that has nothing similar in name.

Specs with some other, maybe <> ?
unitTypeName - literally the exact unit parameter that represents name, before applying strings.
