Nordic unit: Norman knight IMPLEMENTED

Post by Badnorth »

The Normans (from Nortmanni: “Northmen”) were originally pagan barbarian pirates from Denmark, Norway, and Iceland who began to make destructive plundering raids on European coastal settlements in the 8th century..The Norman knight also wore a conical helmet that had a nose guard for further protection against blows to the face. Norman knights also used spurs and stirrups. Spurs were used to drive the horse forward in battle.

Well they were vikings from Denmark who raided France and eventually settled down. Back then they wouldn't have used any cavalry.

After becoming the Normans they would be more "European" than Norse, especially since they were technically a duchy of France.

Anyway I don't understand why they should be elite? The Normans used a lot of cavalry but they weren't heavily armoured, just chainmail. If anything it should be a weaker, cheaper proto-knight
