Suggestion for rider appearances can be a hooded figure with a wooden round shield and sling, for upgraded he will become light armored with metal round shield. If the idea is acceptable i can probably make the image once i have some free time.

The problem with mounted slingers is that, such unit is probably fantasy.
Any effective slingers trained from childhood or for many years at the very least. Mostly in regions were small game could be hunted using slings. And almost exclusively by lowest classes, that wouldn't ever own the horse, so even supplied with them - they wouldn't know how to ride.
Btw. That are main reasons why slingers became less and less common with time. Such terrains and such people were becoming decreasingly smaller part of total population.
Even assuming people trained in horse riding and sling throwing existed shooting from a horse would be very hard.
To the point of being dangerous (even loose sling after releasing stone, hitting a horse could bring danger).
With very careful helicopter throw, danger could be somehow overcome, but power and range would suffer.
Adding the fact, that on region were slingers were used, saddle and stirrups were not known - dragooning would probably be the only way. Not very effective.
Of course, there could potentially exist some rare, highly trained people using slings, while mounted (maybe even somehow increasing the power using mount natural movement), but that would probably be something non-standard, special.
