Bayonet charge for Japanese infantry
Bayonet charge is enabled after the units healths is less than half and it gives the unit a 40% bonus damage against infantry.
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
Re: Bayonet charge for Japanese infantry
How about ability to transform Japanese infantry with bayonet to Banzai charge unit instead? LIke in this topic http://www.ageofstrategy.net/viewtopic. ... 0&start=60
Banzai charge unit will get more power but also get attack penalty. The attacked unit will attack first instead of the Banzai charge unit.

It would be pretty cool if it caused fear to the opponent too.

Re: Bayonet charge for Japanese infantry
I think it should be able for all nations not just japan.
A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.
Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.
Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.

Other nations didn't use bayonets in ww2
I am, indeed, a big Witch King and Middle Earth fan if you didn't notice.

True, the Japanese used swords for close quarters combat as well. Also other nations used bayonets too, but not so much as them.

Re: Bayonet charge for Japanese infantry
The USA used bayonets in the revolutionary war, the civil war , Mexican war and the Spanish american war!
and in ww1 and ww2

Re: Bayonet charge for Japanese infantry
If we have to do the history of bayonets we can go up to when the muskeets were invented. But we are talking about ww2.
French im not sure if used bayonets (probably they not have time for use them)
British used bayonets probably in the battle ofof france but with the mass production of the Sten probavly the notfamily use it anymore.
German army was focused on smg so same story
Soviet army had those because of the ww1 tattics (maybe we can add some abilities too?)
Italians used this probably more than the rifle
Japanes used sword
But we have to dead with the fact that most armies were armed with bolt action rifle, and in a cqc situations is better have a spear long 1'60 meters than a rifle long 1.60 meters.
For having bayonets for allthe rifleman is not needed, we can say that in cqc they use their baionets instrad of the rifle and have the same damege.
For having in some faction (japane, soviets and maybe italy) the ability of these special charges, we have to deal with the thing that those are suicidial charges. Now. A player really want to sacrifice one unit to deal some damege? Because in my opinion the special charge works that a unit sacrifise itself for a massive amount of damege but not as much for oneshot a mg of a flammetrower

Re: Bayonet charge for Japanese infantry
Japanese soldiers don't use swords mostly. Swords are just for their officers and high ranks. A normal Japanese soldiers will be trained in melee combat using the bayonet. Most Japanese rifles have bayonet attached. This ability will increase the unit attack power, but will make it getting counter attack first before the blow. In this case attacking a machine gun is not a good idea.
Re: Bayonet charge for Japanese infantry
Then all infantry should have bayonets. I think swords are a better idea and there is battle in which the Japaneses did use swords in a night time surprise attack upon american troops.

Infantries with bayonet and swords will have the same ability called banzai charge.
