Ace units

Here talk about units and structures.
IMPORTANT!: Every unit type and structure type should be in a separate topic.
So if you have a new unit idea than open a new topic for it!

Ace units

Post by TrueSlav »

Ace units would be units that could be produced only once per
game in military academies. These would have exceptional combat capabilties and
uniqe skills. Also, keep in mind that I'm terrible at making
balanced units. And I'm not sure if some of them are possible to code.

USA:

Audie Murphy- a young man who joined the US army after falsyfying his documents. Often reffered to as the best soldier of WW2.
After the war he returned as a broken man and with his life ruined by what he saw and expirienced.
can use suppresive fire in order to weaken enemy infantry.

Desmond Doss- A true hero, never leaves when a comrade is in need. A medic who saved around 100 US soldiers in a very desperate situation.
He is known for refusing to wield a rifle when in battle.
Can heal any friendly infantry unit in area within of 2 range. 5 turn cooldown. No attack power.

Richard Bong- One of the best fighter pilots of WW2, highy decorated and expirienced.
Can ram enemy planes, damaging his, and the enemy aircraft.

Lafayette G. Pool- A very talented indivdual, he and his crew killed 1000 German soldiers and took 250 to captivity.
His presence boosts morale of any nearby armored units.

Germany:

Erich Hartmann- Best scoring pilot of WW2.
Capable of crash landing his plane, killing any unarmoured
unit and surviving to continue the fight as a weak infantry unit that
boosts morale of nearby comerades.

Otto Carius- One of the best tank aces of WW2.
can use "percision strike" every 3(?) turns. This skill will
cause massive damage to any armoured unit.

Erwin Rommel- A German general that was known to take risks. Often advancing alongside his unit in a command vehicle.
Rides into battle in a Panzer 4. Increases speed and damage of nearby vehicle units.

USSR:

Dimitry Lavrenko- Best Allied tank ace, scoring over 52 tank
kills in just 2.5 months.
can ram enemy units, damaging both his tank and the enemy's.
2(?) turns of cooldown.

Or

Zinoviy Kolobanov- He and his 5 KV-1 tanks destroyed an entire
German armoured collum in just 30 minutes.
Every 3(?) turns he can use the percision strike abillity which
disables enemy tanks for 1 turn.

Ivan Kozhedub- Born in the Ukrainian SSR, he was the best Allied ace of
WW2 and one of few pilots who managed to shoot down a ME 262. Allegedaly
destroyed two USAAF P-51 fighters in a friendly fire accident.
Able to perform a deadly Firing run. Stuns vehicles for 1 turn
and mows down infantry. 3 (?) turns of cooldown

Dmitry Ovcharenko- a machinegunner operator who managed to kill
multiple Heer officers with just an axe.
Able to convert into a machinegunner.
As a machinegunnr he's able to use his machinegun to provide suppresing
fire which weakens targeted enemy infantry. Able to convert into an axe
wielding soldier equiped in grenades. In this state he's capable of
charging simmilarly to the minotaur from AoF.

I also have to wonder how we could distinguish normal and ace units, here's some of my ideas:
a) We give them a special icon
b) We give them prototype vehicles
c) We give them special camouflages

Nice ideas, though they aren't very balanced. Here's 2 more:

Jack Churchill: was a British Army officer who fought in the Second World War with a longbow, bagpipes, and a Scottish broadsword.

Ben Salamon: was a dentist who defended against an entire Banzai charge by himself.

Salomon killed an enemy soldier who had bayoneted one of the wounded. Four more enemy soldiers breached the tent — Salomon kicked one, shot another and bayoneted a third. One of the wounded Americans shot and killed the fourth.

With more enemy soldiers approaching, Salomon ordered the wounded to make for the regimental aid station. To cover their retreat, he rushed out of the medical tent, rifle in hand, and took over a machine gun position after its crew had been killed.

Salomon mowed down the human wave of Japanese, suffering multiple gunshot wounds in the process. So many enemy soldiers fell before him that Salomon, despite his injuries, moved his machine gun back at least four times in order to get clear shots of the next wave.

When the banzai attack was finally defeated, a relief force was sent to Salomon’s aid station. They found the heroic dentist slumped dead over his machine gun with the bodies of nearly one hundred Japanese soldiers lying before him. Salomon had been riddled with 76 bullets. A surgeon who later examined his body concluded that 24 of his wounds occurred before he died.
