Megabuilding changes and alternatives

Post by TntAttack »

Megabuildings are a strange unit. There are some changes I wish to be done.

- Standardisation of production units
- Standardisation of types of unit capability
- Ability to move units from transports carrier inside megabuilding out into megabuilding inventory.

Also. I think the concept of mega buildings is a bit bland.

Some alternative building within this megabuilding category could included.

British:
- Combined Operations Headquarters

"Combined Operations Headquarters was a department of the British War Office set up during Second World War to harass the Germans on the European continent by means of raids carried out by use of combined naval and army forces."

- Produces Amphibious assaults and commandos

Western Approaches Tactical Unit (WATU)

"Is Royal Navy analysis team founded in early 1942. Their remit was to study the conduct of convoy operations, to understand how the U-boats operated and to formulate tactics to counter this evolving threat."

- tech that increases the effectiveness of allied Anti submarine attacks.

Germans:
Wolf's lair

- anti air
- large Unit Capacity
- Stealth

V-2 rocket facilities (Industry 2 or later)

- Produces V2 rockets. Perhaps we could bluff v2 rockets as well.

Fortress of Mimoyecques (Industry 3)
- V3 cannon that shoots far and damages major damage. Never completed in real life due to allied bombardment.

US

Malinta Tunnel (Industry 2?)

"The Malinta Tunnel is a tunnel complex built by the United States Army Corps of Engineers on the island of Corregidor in the Philippines. It was initially used as a bomb-proof storage and personnel bunker, but was later equipped as a 1,000-bed hospital."

- Produces medics
- Building is a medic megabuilding

Fort Drum (Industry 2?)

"Also known as El Fraile Island (Tagalog: Pulo ng El Fraile), is a heavily fortified island situated at the mouth of Manila Bay in the Philippines, due south of Corregidor Island. Nicknamed a "concrete battleship",[1] the reinforced concrete sea fort, shaped like a battleship, was built by the United States in 1909 as one of the harbor defenses at the wider South Channel entrance to the Bay during the American colonial period."

- Cheaper non producible megabuilding at is effective at defending.

Manhattan Project (Industry 3)
"Was a research and development undertaking during World War II that produced the first nuclear weapons. It was led by the United States with the support of the United Kingdom and Canada."

- Produces tech for nuclear bomb.
- Allows for bombers to drop nukes.

Soviet Union

Brest fortress

"Has sustained its original outline of a star shaped fortification since its construction in the early 19th century. The 1.8 km long barrack comprised 500 rooms to accommodate 12,000 soldiers within thick walls built from super strong red bricks."

- Produces infantry.
- Large Unit Capacity

Stalin Line

"A line of fortifications along the western border of the Soviet Union (USSR). Work began on the system in the 1920s to protect the USSR against attacks from the west. The line was made up of concrete bunkers and gun emplacements, somewhat similar to, but less elaborate than the Maginot Line. It was not a continuous line of defense along the entire border, but rather a network of fortified districts, meant to channel potential invaders along certain corridors."

- Defensive Bunkers
- If possible, extendable megabuilding that connects to other parts of the megabuilding.

France

"Is a line of concrete fortifications, obstacles and weapon installations built by France in the 1930s to deter invasion by Germany and force them to move around the fortifications."

- Defensive Bunkers
- If possible, extendable megabuilding that connects to other parts of the megabuilding.

Italy

The Alpine Wall

"Was an Italian system of fortifications along the 1,851 km (1,150 mi) of Italy's northern frontier. Built in the years leading up to World War II at the direction of Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, the defensive line faced France, Switzerland, Austria, and Yugoslavia. It was defended by the "Guardia alla Frontiera" (GaF), Italian special troops."

Gothic line (Industry 2)

"BETWEEN 1943 AND 1944, THE German forces in Italy, under Field Marshal Kesselring, used forced labour to construct a defensive line of concrete bunkers, anti-tank ditches, air defense installations, over 2,000 machine gun nests, and other fortifications in a 10-mile-deep corridor that stretched across virtually the entire width of Italy."

- If possible, extendable megabuilding that connects to other parts of the megabuilding.

Japan

Hōyo Fortress
"Was the name of a group of coastal fortifications built to guard the Hōyo Strait at the entrance to Bungo Channel between the Japanese islands of Kyushu and Shikoku and this the western entrance to the Seto Inland Sea. These gun batteries and fortifications ceased to be used after the end of World War II."

- Coastal
- Powerful against ships.

The Karafuto Fortress

"Was the defensive unit formed by the Karafuto fortification installations, and the Karafuto detachment of Japanese forces, the 88th Division. The headquarters was in Toyohara, capital of the province, based on the Suzuya plain, in the Southern Karafuto area, not far from the ports of Otomari and Maoka."

(Note this source has no citations)

- Defensive building. Strong against ground.

Kurile Islands Fortress

"The key Japanese position was on Shumushu Island, whose defense consisted of permanent emplacements protected by field and AA artillery. A garrison of over 8,000 men reinforced by 60 tanks defended the islands of Shumushu and Paramushiro. All the coastal sections convenient for landings were covered with permanent emplacements and bunkers, interconnected with underground passages and trenches. All the warehouses, power stations and hospitals were underground, up to 50 m deep."

- Produces medics
- Large capacity
- Anti air
- Produces Tanks maybe

I would not want to change the existing mega buildings.
but there is the option to add more buildings as a selection. the limitation would continue to exist with the number of cities.

as with the current buildings, we can then also give the buildings separate options for the production of units
