Increasing humans and dwarves armours - IMPLEMENTED

Post by Savra » Sat Sep 12, 2020 11:45 pm

Due to their units starting off with armour anyway, could we give humans and dwarves armoured units 1/1 armour to start with, to me it might give them a better survivability in matches.

This would also help, for dwarves who cost a lot anyway, a better chance against fast producing races as well.

If not this, then we could at least just give their shielded units a bonus to armour instead.

In the end, the max armour a unshielded spearman would have is 3/3, while the warrior ends with 5/5, while archers remain with 2/2 armour at max.

For dwarves, this would look more like: for spearmen 5/5, the warrior would have 7/7, and any un-armoured unit would have 4/4 max.

The alternative is to give shielded units only +2 to pierce armour instead.

Right now — no. They will get too high ending armors.

Alas if we will increase stats as we planned (x2 armors, x3 attack, x4 health) than we also can consider to give some units some base armor.

Also dwarven shields during this update will give bonus armor on tier 3/4 in place of dodges.

I agree with maka. One of the reason for the upscaling was the handling of high armor values.

So, not even a +1 to pierce armour for shielded units? Because I feel that should at least supply some protection.

Btw, could we increase the Templars and Hospitallars armour to the same value as the base cavalry, currently they have 0/0 when their mounts actually have more protection then the knights.

We can discuss these changes after the upscaling, if it ends up winning the vote.

Now we can discuss this:
As for me all melee type human fighter units (templars, warmages and other hybrids also included) can get +1/+1 armor to their current stats excluding militia unit of humans. Alas if unit has transform than no.
For units with shields i agree to add +1 more p.armor (regardless of type of unit).

About dwarves: this is a bit harder topic because i wanted to make more feelable difference between defencive dwarven units and offencive dwarven units after upscale thus i will look onto units later and suggest their rebalancing.

ALL humans who currently aren't archer's will start with armour, this means:
Militia
Warrior
Shielder
Axe Thrower
Skirmisher
Double Swordsman
Templar (and mounted)
Hospitallar (and mounted)
Scout cav
Pegasus rider
Etc.

Units that won't:
Archers and most casters.

This will give humans more of an advantage in matches.

Agreed on dwarves and shields.

i'd say that militia still must not start with armor.

I think it should, as it would increase it's survivability and would act similar to how the town watch starts with a dodge counter.

It won't be too big of a buff.

Implemented for humans.

Still discussing for dwarves.
