Ok i've updated my dragoons a bit. They are 17th century, so I think @DreJaDe yours could be used as the 18th century version instead of 19th? They can be an upgrade to the 17th century dragoons, as yours also look much more ornate. Maybe rename yours to 'Dragoon Guards', as these were the more elite dragoons.

Flail Soldiers

The longer cylindrical-headed flail is a hand weapon derived from the agricultural tool of the same name, commonly used in threshing. It was primarily considered a peasant's weapon, and while not common, they were deployed in Germany and Central Europe in the later Late Middle Ages.

Sorry i am getting confused...didnt we already have landsknetch pikemen ?
We are getting to the point we are repeating units...
Also, barbarians are too far away from the game concept...it could be a ester egg or an special unit, but i think those kind of unit can wait till we get a pre beta version...dont u thini so?

You know how this topic is called "English Units"? :D only post english units here. Units that arent even in the time period you can post in a new topic if you really want to. Swiss guard belong in a 'mercenary' topic or something.

How is json work going? We have many units with ready images.

That was the earliest version of dragoons. 17th and onwards their role changed to mostly ranged cavalry, that could also dismount and fight in melee.

I dont know about the image with horses still there. It is a bit weird that they fight along side their horses :D they would probably be tied down a bit away from the fighting so they wouldnt bolt.

Also not sure about your idea, Max. How is that going to be pulled off? Id rather just have units like before

didnt they used fancy hats at first? i think in the early 17th century they did use hats and little armor in pair with their coats.

as for crouching maybe we can have 2 sprites one were they stand and can move, and another one where they crouch but are immovile, similar to the pavise corssbowman

Ok here is the 17th century line infantry.

What will be the upgrade trees? This is another important thing to determine.

Line Infantry (17th century) -> Line infantry (18th century)

Will the musketeer (we have a sprite for it already somewhere in this topic) be the first level of the line infantry, and therefore 16th century units, or will it be a completely different line

I posted it. It was something like:
Musketmen (16th century)
Musketeers (17th century)
Line infantry (18th century)
since eras will be: late medieval, renaissance, discoveries and napoleonic. Musket upgrade line wont be recutable at late medieval.
What do u think squirrel?

I like that idea.

However, we still don't have musketman sprite.

Also since this includes Napoleonic wars we need an early 19th century sprite. Quadrupole drew nice line infantry with hats from that period so that is a good match, I added here also.

I will attach them all here, with their centuries written in front of their name, only musketman is missing for this line.
