Churchill AVRE IMPLEMENTED

Post by ZakTheBuilder1 »

A monster of a machine equipped with a Spigot Mortar (the PIAT) but two times bigger, able to lunge a 40lb (18.4kg) or 290mm high explosive bomb at a range of 100 yards or 91 meters at buildings and defences
Nicknamed the flying trash can
Was able to be attached to a normal Churchill and work.

Some AVREs where used to transport bridges and maybe recover vehicles as it had a crane attached.

Some where used to clear beach heads of barbed wire with a "bobbin"

In 1943 a upgrade was proposed to increase range and safety of crew and add 10 more millimeters to 290
This was called "Ardeer Aggie"

Aprx 700 built

Good idea, I was about to suggest this myself.
