I received the second suggestion about that a melee unit should be able to attack to the diagonal direction (not only the left, right, top.down directions).
so if a unit is sorrounded by 8 enemy, it can receive 8 hits (now it can only 4 from the sides)
What are your opinions?
And also: is it needed to the movements also? (should a catapult be able to move to the diagonal direction with its 1 movement?)

Re: Attacking: Melee attacks to diagonal tiles
I would prefer diagonal movement but no attack. The catapult is a bit slow
What color is your flag when it's burning?!
Re: Attacking: Melee attacks to diagonal tiles
Maybe only give the diagonal attack/movement to some units?
Cheers, everything will go well! Yes, ask the other person to lend you something/go on a date/do anything else! They ain't gonna bite your head off!

Re: Attacking: Melee attacks to diagonal tiles
no that would be confusing
so you vote that: no need for diagonal melee attack in general? (this was the basic question)

Re: Attacking: Melee attacks to diagonal tiles
Well, then I vote for orthogonal attack only.

I think diagonal movement and melee attacks is logical.
It may well also improve army flexibility. (Easier to move around other units)
Just my thoughts.

well, this is a medieval game and things were slow, ponderous, and hard to control.
now if this were during the time of Frederick the Great, it would have to be by nation, and from Napoleon on, all could move on the diagonal.
I vote to leave it as is, it adds flavor.

My vote is no. Maybe 1 specific unit, but not for all the units.
