World war 1 game

Post by Shark guy 35 »

Aoww's design leaders agreed not to use WW1 units, so why not make a WW1 variant?

Ok, we need some more people to get behind it and this could be created

The reason why ww1 is not included in AoWw was because the development wasn't going quick enough for just ww2.

Ok, so in the future we could add in ww1 units in AOWW?

Well I would love to see that but I'm not sure if the AoWw design leader is considering anything of the sort. I think they are gonna permanently stick to ww2 only... Dunno, consult it with the AoWw team, I don't sit around there.

If you agree that this is a good idea, we have 2 choices; wait for progress in AOWW to go fast enough to have WW1 units or just create it right away.

Pretty sure both are not happening atm.
Y'know, AoF and AoWw have a lot of problems and new content to make and need a lot of work, AoG is slowly entering the second half of development (that hopefully will go faster than the first half) and the AoD has just started it's development. I don't think you can gather enough people, and I pretty sure it's a better move for the whole Ao series to finish and improve games that are in progress instead of starting more new that we won't necessarily finish. From my experience, making an Ao game is not a quick thing - AoG's development started 4 years ago. For now, you should wait with this.

Also you said "we", allow me to exclude myself - I would like to see a good ww1 game (perhaps even extended with American civil war and some of late XIX century stuff like German-French war), just as I would wanna see what guys from AoD come up with, but I'm too occupied being the design leader of AoG to get involved in another game development. I'm just kinda trying to give my opinion on which of the mostly crazy ideas for games posted here could work.

Ok, point taken. It's always a good idea to try and complete a project (and when I say complete I mean get so it is temporarily balanced and only needs minor maintenance.) before starting a new one. The age of games are never really complete, there will always be more to add.

Well yea. I don't think AoF and AoWw are quite on that "temporary balance" level tho.

Well, in terms of balance. AOW is more balanced than AOF though only if we use the combined factions.

Well, this could be added definitely. We just pretty much need to complete the AOW then add this like a DLC.

The only problem will be there still too much to add in AOW even though it's the one with most limited potential among the AO games.

this would be nice as many ww1 units were used in ww2 like the FT-17, mark 1 several artillery guns etc.

So how about reviving or actually starting to develop this project? I found a few people willing to help with a set in years 1900-1933 project, conceptualized the game's gameplay to at least some degree and made draft, very basic unit images.

Sure, we may have to ask Stratego however.

Stratego has already given us a green light on a game set in the American Civil war-1933, and progress is going quite well.
