RPG-40 was intended to combat enemy armored vehicles, armored vehicles and light tanks with armor up to 20 - 25 mm. The grenade was equipped with an instantaneous impact fuse, which ensured detonation upon contact with a solid target and its defeat due to the high-explosive effect.
