capture tanks OLD_TOPIC
for example in many strategy games you can capture enemy tanks as if they were neutral units that have a crew for example in the game men of war if the tank is badly damaged the crew dies and it is neutral then other troops on both sides can capture it (if I have some errors and because I'm from Brazil)

Re: capture tanks
It's a good idea, I just don't think it can be coded easily.

Re: capture tanks
Maybe make it so you can only capture a tank when it has 10% of it's total health left.

Re: capture tanks
Well you can't just run up to a tank and hop in, right? You'll get killed by the machine guns.

for example the tank crew can make repairs to the tank so it would leave you exposed during the time the crew is doing tank repairs

Re: capture tanks
yes then yard add fuel to vehicles to make the game more challenging for example the game would not have a very large number of tanks on the battlefield

Re: capture tanks
how is the tank crew supposed to do that? do they carry extra steel plates with them or spare tracks ?? there would be no space in the tank. besides, it would make the tank much heavier, which would make it slower and immobileBrenoHenrique wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 3:13 am for example the tank crew can make repairs to the tank so it would leave you exposed during the time the crew is doing tank repairs

Re: capture tanks
if fuel is brought into play, where do we get it from? in addition, we would have to include iron steel and other raw materials. it would then become something like an economic simulation in lite.BrenoHenrique wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 1:51 am yes then yard add fuel to vehicles to make the game more challenging for example the game would not have a very large number of tanks on the battlefield
i know there are many games that do that, but it is nice to have a game that does not do that

Re: capture tanks
Yeah, fuel would make things to complicated and not really fun to play.

Re: capture tanks
Let's say something fell off a tank, or got broken in battle. They can probably put it back on, or at least get the tank in good enough condition so that it can make it back to base, where it will be repaired.Jasondunkel wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 9:59 amhow is the tank crew supposed to do that? do they carry extra steel plates with them or spare tracks ?? there would be no space in the tank. besides, it would make the tank much heavier, which would make it slower and immobileBrenoHenrique wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 3:13 am for example the tank crew can make repairs to the tank so it would leave you exposed during the time the crew is doing tank repairs

Re: capture tanks
to resurrect this topic. the tank has a 10% chance of being knocked out and its crew killed in the case of AI they will never leave the tank but they can be killed if the tank is knocked out turning it into a fixed and neutral unit.

leaving it easily free to either side retrieve it to be reactivated and return to combat. it can be controlled by ordinary infantry but will have its bonuses decreased.

Re: capture tanks
and the more powerful the tank, the less chance it will get knocked out and captured. out. ex: a powerful like the Maus tank should have only 3 or 4% to be knocked out whereas the pz-3 or 4 tanks would have a 10 to 12% chance of being knocked out.BrenoHenrique wrote: ↑Sat Apr 24, 2021 3:11 am leaving it easily free to either side retrieve it to be reactivated and return to combat. it can be controlled by ordinary infantry but will have its bonuses decreased.

Re: capture tanks
I like this idea!
Also (off topic) for every thing like fuel, ammo, etc if it were to be added, couldn't you just make it to where you can switch it off/on when making a game? It would be a switch near the fog of war and reveal but below it would say turn fuel on/off, next turn ammo on/off, etc.
