Light Cav no longer a scouting unit?

(Perhaps deliberate and not an issue, but)

Light Cav and it's upgrade no longer seem to have a function as a scouting unit, primarily they can no longer see stealth units.
I also play an RTS game called Life 8-)
And I also like drinking beer! :D

They never could see stealth.
Unless trying to step on it.

Many people consider them good scouts (including me), because for just revealing fog of war and ability to take over empty tc that are far - they are the best.
Enough damage to sweep ranged units is good bonus too.

But since we are here already, what about doing to them the same that was done to dromon scouts (allowing to see invisible units for 1 turn, but reducing vision range), maybe reducing its vision by 4 while active?
Green is the correct color, other colors are "less correct".

First - are we sure dromon scouts really work OK in regards of that ability?
I haven't tested it in multiplier at all.
And I know stealth is working somewhat different in multi.

Actually, no, haven't had a chance to test them in MP yet, but I'm in a game where they might be used for that purpose, so I might be able to test soon.

Wow, I must be going loopy then. I could have sworn they did!... with such confidence that I would have wagered all 958 of my gems on the issue :lol:

But I like b's suggestion re dromon style ability - especially as this could be the only scouting unit that wouldn't get one shorted by a longbowman (the biggest barrier to effective scouting is how easy it is to kill all scout units).

Well - from my memory they couldn't since I first got the unit, so somewhere in the summer of 2015, while version log tells me it was added in the end of January the same year, so probably from the very start.

But I don't trust my memory.
Failed me too many times.
So I only gave sure info confirmed by checking.

I've only been here since the end of '19, so I'm not thinking historically here. This must be my memory playing tricks on me, although I am utterly convinced I've used light cav to spot spies and assassins, but no one else shares this belief (I've also asked in 2 separate chat groups, but everyone has edged away with suspicious glances thinking I'm weird).

If it's easy to do Endru, could you check from any point between 6 - 12 months ago please? - just to put my mind (or what remains of it) at ease. And if that also shows up false then I will just have to accept I am going senile and find a padded room somewhere.

I haven't managed to look through (that would take too much time), but I remembered something - around half a year ago (on summer as I recall) there were some trials to make stealth fixed.
Don't remember if it started with some new bug or was just decided to be finally worked upon, but stratego spend a lot of time on it and there were multiple dev versions with stealth not working properly in varying degree.
Again - not sure if any managed to find it's way in public version.
Maybe it was something like that.
