The Dwarven one time long time ago were a far more technologically advanced race, with underground cities that counted millions of dwarf. They were so advanced that they were capable of making something like robots, they call them automaton. For a while they defended their cities from other races trying pillaging their rich cities. But one day they rebel agaist the dwarf, and for both part was a immensi e costly war. The 80% of the dwarfs of that era died, but the machines were destroyed. Entire cities were pillaged cause of the machines were trying to produce more machines, tons of metal and money were gone, just like that. The remaining dwarf signed an agreement that they were never build another automaton again. But the times change, and as the tention between races rise, the dwarfs find themselfs always more weak. So now, they find a way to not build them but use them in the same time. With the some stone infused with powerful runic power they are able now to make them finally again unconscious of the self and at the same time reactivate their complex meccanical engine and finally work for the defence of the tunnel once again.

Comsect. Those will be the heavy infantry of dwarf. Automaton will be mostly high cost infantry, but they will have 1/2 medium cost infantry unit. They completely lack archers, mage and cavalry, but maybe they can have some speedy wheeled vehicle
