dwarf ranged damage output

Hey, I'm currently in a war of attrition kinda game with undead with heavy ranged use. he uses mostly skull throwers. My array is crossbowman, rifle, musket, repeating musket. What would be your unit of choice and which is the most cost effective in your view? Rifle can't be upgraded, but seems to be strong out of the box. hand crossbowman seems like an early game only choice.

Rifleman should be affected by both base ranged and rifle upgrades, it should have a total of +12 attack and +2 range on max upgrade. Also I think the rifleman is supposed to be something similar to that of the orc archer or human longbowman, as a heavy ranged unit, crossbowmen should have better attack toward armoured units though as they have higher bonuses toward units, I don't know about the musketeer.

I know think that for my kind of game, rifleman is quite effective, as he has high range in garrisoned state, plus better armour, making him superior in a ranged vs ranged standoff.
also mortar seems to be good if there is not too much movement involved anyway.
