In game - GUI redesign IMPLEMENTED
I receive many complaints about the UI conrol appearances - and they are right
(the urrent is the 10 minute "put there something" approach)
please post here links to game images that you think has nice controls/buttons/HUD in other games, so we can make a new in-game HUD appearance.
thanks!

Re: In game - UI redesign
I think only about lowering current buttons sizes. Otherwise it is perfectly fine for me.

Re: In game - UI redesign
On second thought i think i know what improvements i want to see:
1. I want to add into green openable button another button that will hide and show all red buttons.
2. Lower all buttons exept of 3 dot menu size by 15-25%
3. Add to blue field general stats: amount of buildings, castles, current turn. All info from red field in next screenshot. Also i want it to be showable and hideable like everything else.
4. In normal settings you can choose which buttons you want to be always showable.

Re: In game - UI redesign
Background must be definately.
As for ui examples i prefer older background and icons.
And some examples from me:
Heroes of might and magic 3. Ui is on right side and on bottom.
Heroes of might and magic 5. Minimap, resources and right to minimap ui parts are hidable if click on blue arrow.
Warcraft 3. Ui is on top and bottom. On top only technical buttons.
Warcraft 2. Ui is on left and on top (resources).
Cossacks 2. Ui is on top and several parts on bottom when you click on units.
I like all of them but mostly heroes 5.

Re: In game - UI redesign
I like the classic buttons settings, but I also agree that updating the UI could be nice, so i think that maybe you can put an option to enable new/classic layout on the menu options aswell.

feel free to make similar mock plans so we can select the best.
also above images: some of them are PC screenshots, we need Android/iPhone screenshots samples as PC design is way different.

Re: In game - UI redesign
please only search for mobile platform games, PC design is way different.
Re: In game - UI redesign
Probably, beside changing the icons, the best layout would be a user-custom layout, with 2 or 3 pre-set layouts and the options to change both size and position of the buttons, with also, the possibility to put not used buttons hidden, exposed or inside pop-up buttons on UI.
Excuse-me @Stratego (dev) for going a bit off topic... But when you said "PC Screenshoots", are you working secretly on pc port of the game? Or that is an android emulator? Just curious

sorry but i dont plan to make customizable ui (btw: i never see such in games), it will be enough work to redesign it to a single nice oneDoomsdayDragonfire wrote: ↑Wed Feb 06, 2019 3:55 pm Probably, beside changing the icons, the best layout would be a user-custom layout, with 2 or 3 pre-set layouts and the options to change both size and position of the buttons, with also, the possibility to put not used buttons hidden, exposed or inside pop-up buttons on UI.

This is "Event Horizon: Frontier" from event horizon series (the game is not related to the movie)Stratego (dev) wrote: ↑Wed Feb 06, 2019 4:16 pm sorry but i dont plan to make customizable ui (btw: i never see such in games), it will be enough work to redesign it to a single nice one
It does have the custom layout like I mentioned, it have 4 pre-sets and also, you can drag and put buttons anywhere you want on the screen, adjust the size, hide buttons and many other things. So the user can adjust the in-game UI in the way the he like most.
me on my usual custom layout. me picking one of the pre-sets. me yoloing controls.
Ah ok, I still have hope that someday I will be able to play on the pc without an emulator.Stratego (dev) wrote: ↑Wed Feb 06, 2019 4:16 pm i ment Makawzur images, that are PC screenshots, we dont need PC screenshots but we need mobile games screenshots.

Re: In game - UI redesign
I like old one. The one i screened.
Maybe only add those changes i suggested before.
Also if you want still new ui than please add an option to turn to old style.
I don't like new look of buttons. They look more cartoonish and i don't think that it is fitting for aos/aof.
Even more cartoonish than game itself.

Re: In game - UI redesign
ok, than please help me find less cartoonish buttons or something.
(old ui: i dont plan to keep it, that is a 5 minute hack from the beginning, here we need to assemble a final layout and appearance)
also cartoonish: the button or the "icon" on the button is cartoonish, we can find less cartoonish iconsts if only the icons.

Re: In game - UI redesign
Would it be possible to allow players to enter an edit mode and drag icons where they want?
That might come in handy for left handed people and I also believe we should make it possible to make the screen rotate if you move the phone upside down
About the look I think we can come up with something nice and I agree with the possibility to switch between new and classi. UI

Re: In game - UI redesign
But why "end turn" uses backpack as icon?!
Also i still want them to be hideable as well as to see in game amount of units, buildings and castles i have as well as current turn without coming into menu.
