Bone mantlet — ARCHIVED
Cost 4 at tc, 8 from workers
Hp: 25
Armor: 3/6
Carries 1
Speed 1
It's mostly the same thing as AoS mantlet, but with a bit of normal armor added. Add in casters can spell cast from it, and it's a mobile way to protect and use some of the most vulnerable undead units....I'm looking at you, lich.

Re: Bone mantlet
Speed is abysmal, why 1? Why not 2,but when someone is in it 3?

Re: Bone mantlet
Because I basically copied the stats from AoS, that's why. I actually added the 3 armor to make it better. This being said, AoF and AoS have very different balances, and anything that goes into AoF has to be justified as to if it will be used or not. I'm sure the same AoS hack of packing catapults into battering rams into mantlets into wagons into transports can be applied here.....or did someone plug that hole since I last played AoS? Anyway, the stats are up for debate, but there's your explanation for the initial stats. I do agree 1 speed sounds a bit slow, but what does everyone else think.

Re: Bone mantlet
The Manlet should follow the same basic principle as the AoS design. A slow moving shield that prevents the unit from being harmed. If it becomes a maneuverable shield upon units going inside, that would look wierd.

Re: Bone mantlet

Re: Bone mantlet
Can people attack from inside a mantlet?
I'd like a new kind of effect. For example people around the mantlet might obtain a +3 to pierce armor.

Re: Bone mantlet
I think he means neatly ordered in rows. And yes, you can attack from inside it, just like in AoS. It's mostly to protect casters though, as undead don't have much as far as archers to go by.

Re: Bone mantlet
The added pierce armor to adjacent units sounds good, but isn't something undead really need. They have high enough pierce armor as it is. I would consider the idea for something of human design, however.

Re: Bone mantlet
I really didn't want It to differentiate much from the old mantlet. I just wanted a direct reskin of the mantlet, that way the graphics onscreen looked cleaner. You can still have a skeleton hold it, but please have one singular bone lined up with many others facing straight upwards.
It doesn't matter if it sounds unrealistic it's just Fantasy after all.

Re: Bone mantlet
This(in my opinion) is less original, while my version is more original and more of undead design, this one looks like humans ran out of wood(LordOfAles uses words! Its super effective!)

Re: Bone mantlet
Actually it looks better than the rest. That isn't what I imagined for it to look like though it's too messy... why would we need the design to be original? It's not like we've seen Bone Mantlets a million times on TV before... Back to image, the wheels could use a more spherical shape, the lines take away from that. Also it looks very weird how you just added random strips, I wanted every part to look like a bone, except the wheels and that team colored string that holds it all together.

If you want to be creative, maybe make it a giant hollow skull on wheels?
