You both make points I agree with. I like the converting idea as well.
Phoenix is right that reskinned versions of units already existing add very little to the game itself, and I agree units should only really be added to the actual game that have some sort of special/advantage/uniqueness to them. However, Hardeep also makes a good point that units like this make a great addition to campaigns and such.
But I think we may have found a compromise to make this unit relevant now, without making it op.

what about moving it into castle ? - this is a special unit, and we can increase its stats a bit because it is hard to build a castle.

I think that would be a good idea. Make it about as powerful as maceman like it is, add the converting ability, and that sounds like a good castle unit to me.
