Heavy/Armored Maceman

I think someone said increasing macemans attack would make it too strong, so how about an upgrade which doesnt change offensive stats, just increases armour and HP to make him a more viable option that doesnt die so easily.
If this is approved i can try make a sprite for it based on the current maceman, unless someone else wants to :D

I think it's good idea to make him an upgrade.

Maceman, even though usable even on endgame, is balanced around the start.

His upgrade could be another one unique to nordic hall.

Nordic Hall ? Ehm, i was thinking more along the lines of plate armour, would that fit ? :D

Something along the lines of this, same posture, changed the mace as it was huge, most maces were much smaller.
Can change further if you would like.

Just a thought, take it or leave it, my good man, but if he's going to be an upgrade, could we give him a big bog off warhammer instead of a mace? I know the initial post was about upgrading the armour/durability, but what can I say.... I kinda want a big bog off warhammer too :)

No, I'm thinking of exactly the same role, just better. Like when the archer is upgraded, he gets a more powerful weapon - the crossbow. Same with voulgier and svardstaff, it's pretty much exactly the same thing, but because it's an upgrade, it's a bigger and bog off-ier weapon.

Except most warhammers weren't very large so no 'big bog off' warhammers :lol: but a warhammer itself could be doable
Of course up to endru not us :)

Good stuff Squirrel :) I think it's definitely needed, the overlap in roles between zweihander and mace man leaves mace man behind a bit once heavy zweihander are in town.

Now, I'm just gonna sit here and hope for the biggest and bog offiest we can get :)

Yeah, heavy zweihander is superior in nearly every way, damage, armour health and most importanty bonuses
It does macemans job better in every way, even having a bonus against melee foot(i assume that means light, medium ,heavy) that is larger than macemans bonus! And Maceman only has bonus against heavy foot. Maybe change zweihander bonuses so he doesnt get bonuses against heavy infantry since zweihanders weren't very effective against armour, but dangerous for lightly armoured troops? I feel that bonus againdt heavy foot should be a role reserved for a mace/warhammer.
And zweihander hits multiple units :?

Also updated the current sprite of Maceman to fit with the upgrade, if we decide to go with that :)

Resizing the mace - not really needed. Most of weapons are a little too big. It's related to limits of pixel graphics in 32x32 size. Also - sometimes it's symbolic.
Enleghtening the legs - this I don't get at all. Why?
Overall image of upgraded Maceman - I am not sure if it fits. It does look good though. Somehow like the Mountain from GoT. Even if not used as a regular unit, I think he could be great for map editor.

What I thought to be more fitting upgrade was just a little better maceman.
With full plate armor he's looking kind of like another unit (BTW. I actually plan to add anti-heavy armored unit, something like discussed poll-axe/polehammer knight).
So I finally made my own sprite (with regular one for comparison:

That mace really bothers me :lol: is the size of his head
the legs i didnt want to change but the original looked really weird with the rest of the body of the image i made, so i changed :D
I guessed already that it wouldnt make sense for nordic hall to have plate armor

You would like to make a polehammer knight, sounds cool :D
