Building/unit damaged animations

Post by Stratego (dev) »

just came to me that it would be not that hard to make an "over animation" on the damaged buildings or units too (like the tank movement animation)

so like if the building has eg.
- 40% damaged it will have a smoke and little fire anmimation on it
- if it is 80% damaged it will be more intense smoke and fog.

so this way we dont need to make all building a dedicated animated form (even the occupied version too) because it is just an "over" animation on the same image.

what do u think?

i thought 2-3 fixed levels and we can set an animation like on the movement animations currently.

level suggestions:
DAMAGED_LITTLE: 40% damage
DAMAGED_MEDIUM: 60% damage
DAMAGED_BAD: 80% damage
i would not deal with the ability to set the percentage too, so only defining 3 levels maybe.

same could be used on mechanical units like tanks,
they also can have some fire and smoke on them.

(naturally individual animation can be set by unit type, so eg. a damaged little tank will have smoke on different places than a plane or building - or even a mega castle)

whta do u think?

Sounds like a good idea to me
Green is the correct color, other colors are "less correct".

Well might make different amounts of damage is required.
Maybe something like 20-40% as little, 40-60% as medium and 60+% as bad.

Put some numbers, compare to what other races have and so on...
