New axe thrower appereance IMPLEMENTED
What happened with its look? Now it looks very off from the rest of the units specially on the campaign maps where they are featured

i have re-placed axe thrower but the rest seems ok,
also templar knight not changed as i see (i found an upgrade named maybe that)
but feel free to improve any of them

I mean upgraded foot templar. Not mounted one.
Old textures for templar (and his upgrade) and old texture for axe thrower were much better.
Can you change images of mentioned 3 units back to their original versions?

Old ones look less cartoonish than new ones.

Hey @Stratego (dev), did you found a way to make that skin feature work? (Dunno where is that post)...
So a single json can share many imgs. (I think making them work in array could work)
Bcz I think this would be a nice opportunity to look on that.

not sure whoch feature you mention, but you can not have more than one appearance of a unit

That one that suggest exactly that, a way to have multiple imgs sharing the same unit. To avoid infinite amount of identical Jsons.

So we can have different "themed skins" to change the appearance of the simple units (vikings, japanese, muslim, cartoonish, royal, ghotic, 17th century, etc...) without need to create new identical jsons for those since there is nothing much different than just how it looks... Replacing the original swordman, spearman, archers, etc... With the imgs "skins" of the desired ones.
So here these new looking would enter on the "cartoonish" Theme of units, while the old would stay on the "original" or else... Being totally optional choices for the user...

Why not? Would be very cool, would add much larger variety to game and would save a very large space with avoidance of new jsons and free space on the buildlist... Since it would be just a button to switch the looks...

because i see no real point in that, as player i dont want to swich looks, i expect the game gives the looks - in my opinion.
there was more practical idea as i remember, that the game can randomly make diff. appearances on same json (not user switching), eg. a swordman can have different shield painting and so on, so we can set more appearance in a json that is chosen randomly on creating the unit.

I see, well you are talking about clothes, i'm talking about essence, you remember that on AOE, each nation own their own visual variation of the same units, and that included also buildings?... They shared same root, with different imgs... Like Mayan and Aztec, Arabic, easten and western europe, Asian... That what i mean! Instead of making like on aoww, we can just put skins on the current units instead of repeating them, so you can have not only nations but also hollydays and other themes... Without having to create jsons for each one of them...

Yes we have, they are mostly neutral units, animals and buildings... Their stats are all the same, and every single one occupies space while they could share a single json per img variant, with all imgs in a single place... Btw, nvm... Just suggested it.

I like the redesign for the templar as it has more character and originality than the first one, but for the upgraded templar, the original is much better imo.

No, the Axe Thrower looks more badass now and looks like an actual threat rather than just shoot- or fight practise!
Before it was just looking like an old crazy man and was an eyesore in my opinion, but now it's more historically accurate and better looking. I don't think it's looking off place at all!

Well the new stile may work but needs a bit refinement
Skin colour is pale, waist seems thin..
Also since I want it's upgrade done (Nordic Hall) I need a final img base.
I'll try my hands on it

I was the one who redesigned them...
I tried to redo the upgraded Templar for many reasons...
Head didn't look attached to shoulders,
No pommel for sword,
Glove too large,
Etc...
Maybe if you can guide me...
I can integrate the desirable qualities of both images so that we may have a better finale...
Personally, I like my redesign overall due to armor sword and shield appearance. I could have done better on the helmet...
I dared not to put too much shading on tabbards because it would ruin the white and red coloration that the Templar is supposed to have.

i like it! i liked the earlier image of ours too, but this looks even better.
if ou are read with the templar (if u want to poilsh) i can can update in game.

Imo, the color of the cloth is too dark while the skin is too light, compared to the rest of the units in game. I think you should try balance that, maybe using the colors on the older version on this new one can make it blend with other imgs much easier.
