Maybe some new units could be heroes. Units with bonuses for the nearly soldiers or something like that. A special unit that you can only do once.

The heroes could have bonuses like extra vision for the first ones, or defense bonuses for the best heroes. Or maybe the heroes could have special skills like petrifying units for 2 turns or an attack bonus for some turns.

Maybe some create own hero should be in game.
Hero could have 2 skills that player can decide for hero. Skills healing, converting, building, second weapon and some more.
Player can buy weapons with gems for hero. Weapons should be in 4 categories that are one handed, two handed, throwing and archer.
Player can buy armours that are in 3 gategories. Gategories are light, medium and heavy. Heavy gives most protection but slows most.
Hero can be mounted and better horses can be buyed by gems.
Hero can be trained better with gems.

the weapon buying: we mentionwd a market long time ago. That would be the place where the players could buy weapons which are preset.

Players can find weapons horses and arnoir during playing maps. they can vary betwewn common and unique. Using the market olayers could trade items with each other.
plus items: boots, helmet, amulet, rong
ring and amulet guves luck which incrase the chanche to find better items.

Can I make a suggestion?
Heroes could be created when a single unit kills lets say.... 10 other units or something. Than that unit (can) be turned into a selection of heroes, all of which havedifferent abilities.
It would give people a reason to not mindlessly charge all their units in and constantly get them slaughtered, and it would add a bit of a new strategy element.

I like that idea, perhaps hero's could level up as well? Say every 10 kills the hero makes without being killed?. With some equitable gear locked until your hero reaches the required level?

Or maybe just add the hero of history like alexander the great aquiles of troy ghenghis khan or leonidas of spartan like paladin unit but no healing ability
