Daily Challenge: an identical pregenerated skirmish map from the list of random maps with random settings and fun mode on is sent to every player from the server at the same time every day. It is assigned a difficulty value in turns to complete based on map size, fog/revealed, starting units, and number of allied ai players against the player to gain gems like in a normal scenario. It can be attempted any number of times for a faster completion, but the player is "kicked" from the game when the next one comes out, giving a time limit on completion.
Multiplayer Challenge: similar to the daily challenge, randomly set maps are automatically posted in the multiplayer lobby. Turn timer is set at 24 hours, fun mode is off, and teams are all equal size. The wining team is given gems based on the number of opposed players. When one multiplayer challenge is filled up the game automatically generates another, but any player can only participate in one at a time.
These two would provide repeatable ways of gaining gems based on skill that don't need constant input or evaluation as the game develops.

Sounds good. For daily challenge it can also be achievement like (kill 50 orcs, destroy 10 castles, kills a king) that can only be obtain from campaign map and random map. No custom map and multiplayer.

@Stratego (dev) this really needs a response from you. I think it would really help players feel less overwhelmed by the sheer number of gems required to fill out the gem store in aof at this point.

good ideas but takes much time to implement.
mutiplayer: in theory: this would be a way to gain free gems if you join in this game with your friend , and one practically gives up, or loses intentionally on the other's favor.

Btw, what's the idea here. (Basically what are we going with) we going to do the random match part so it helps players log in more often and do a quick match vs ai or something? That seems the likely option if unless it's going to be to difficult to code, idk what the coding situations are and what's doable and what's not since I had very limited experience in that.

Just bringing this back up since we still have a gem crisis due to some maps still not being playable.
The simplest solution would probably be taking away ai elves ability to start off with tier 2 blacksmith (just blacksmith) upgrades and have them have to work their way up like the rest of the Ai's.
Or just bring back the ads.
This could work as a temporary solution till we get the daily challenges in.
