All race should have a better way to counter long ranged attacks, cause in all of my game played, the winner is always the one who has the strongest ranged attackers, so maybe you can give all the shielders from all races to block the projectile going across or around in 1 range and absorb the damage, or maybe you can tone down their damage or range.

What do you ask is to add completely new mechanic to the engine of the game itself. Probably will not be possible at all to add such — might be too complicated.

But we had in plans to expand usage of heavy shielders by giving them ability to cover an ally nearby with shield and thus provide extra defence at cost of mobility for both.

Another addition planned for magic update is increase of range for magic debuffs and magic damage. Some mages would even be able to outrange elves.

A yes covering nearby ally with a shield by giving them dmg reduction is the nearest thing to my suggestion, thanks for the reply :)

Wouldn't it be possible to give an aura that gives long-range armor? AoG seems to have something similar.

We have legionary in aos with aura that gives armor bonus to adjacent legionaries

Such effect is planned but it will affect only foot heavy shielders and is based on legion formations of romans from aos.

But we need that to shield the back line, you know from being one shotted from a long range, it'll be greater if any units in range is affected by shield aura, not only the frontline, cause who does attack the frontline first before the long range attackers.

Aura "wall of shields" will represent exactly shielders lined up in a row giving additional defence.

It can't and will not give extra armor to non-heavy shielder units. +3/+3 armor in case of dwarves for any unit AND STACKABLE could result in 20+ armor (up to 40+ or even 60+ if count other planned buffs including cover ally) for priests and other normally not so heavy armored units which is no.

As for cover ally:

Aura will not prevent usage of this ability. Alas it will not be stackable with itself.
Extra defence will be based on shielder's base armor and will be lower than it. Probably in case of humans and dwarves it will give +6/+6 armor, in case of undeads it will give +7-10 p.armor, in case of elves and orcs it will give +2-3/+2-3 armor (these numbers are not final and may be changed).
This ability will not work on mounted, non-land, animals or giant units.
