Heavy Lancer is unbalanced - IMPLEMENTED

The heavy lancer is to be a response to the heavy knight to my understanding.

If a heavy knight attacks a heavy lancer, the heavy knight is dead.

Looking at the armor, the pierce armor rating is 50% more than a heavy knight which does not make sense. It takes 10 crossbowmen fully upgrade to take down 1 heavy lancer.

So either, range units should have a bonus damage to the heavy lancer, or the heavy lancer needs to have weaker pierce armor IMO.

At this point, I see almost no point in making heavy knights anymore. Just heavy lancers, flying units, crossbowmen, and skirmisher masters for combat.

what about reducing the armors from 3/3 to 2/2 (as heavy knight has?)

By lowering the stat, how many crossbow men shots would it take? 5 would seem fair.

I don't think that would be good, because he is supposed to be against the heavy knight only - not against other units.

I'd leave the armor as it is and lower the bonus to kill a knight in one shot but leave a heavy knight with some spare hp

ok, i also see it too op so:
- bonuses reduced a bit (a hknight will not fall in one h. lancer hit) - but will almost die.
- armors reduced to 2/2

up on server in 10 minutes.

i experienced that the heavy lancer is still too strong - what do u think?
came into my mind to remove its "counter-attack" ability, or at least make it so a heavy knight will not fall on a counter attack of a heavy lancer.

Maybe i've got an idea. Why don't you lower the bonus against the knights but give him an ability that gives a temporary bonus against mounted if you move? We might call it "charge". Making it that way he would be less strong if he stay still

i try to avoid making the game more complex - if we use such special things at some point it will be too complex.

If we take a bit of his pierce armor it would make him more susceptible to archers. Would that be balanced enough?

I think that the problem it's not against archers (he has less hp than a heavy knight), the problem is his high damage on counters against mounted units.
We might set him to have a reduced bonus on counter.

what about decreasing the bonus against cavalry? i think it should only hit as hard as a halberdier, or a very little more.
this "one-shot-kill" mode he has against all other cavalry (except elephants) is too much i think.

in some games i am playing with a guy having ONLY h.lancers and heavy catapults and seems unbeatable...
