The Darklings are small, feral vampires that hunt and feed upon unsuspecting prey. Those they don't kill, they bring back to the hive for their Matron to feed...

Not bad idea. I like this.
Sounds a bit close to Reives from Stargate:Atlantis.

Umm, those look like the beserkers from gears of war.
Change to abomination or something.

The darlings could be thralls since thrall means slave.

Vampires probably saying, "I'm no longer alone anymore amongst these lesser minions, meet my family, here is my sister, the matron, and her kids, their butler, and their servants."

Maybe change last one to vampet or blood servant

Familiar by multiple sources is the definition for "thrall or "slave".

By the sounds of it, you are saying

Here's a vampire and her slaves and her slaves and her bodyguard.

Maybe Sanguine Servant.

The term "Darkling" is non-negotiable, though.

I can edit to fit for hive entrance.

Why not just use the barrow?

Btw stats should be:
Hp:100
S.rng:3
Sight:4
Cap:4
Heal:2
Arm:3
P.arm:6
Abilities:
Dark presence

Counts as a mini mega. Like scaledfolks stronghold.
Same mend bonus as stronghold.

Re: The Hive

Sounds ok to me. It is just my Terminology for the dwelling place for these monsters.

In d&d, I called it a hive mainly because of structure.

The Queen (Matron) manages her bees (Darklings) and Drones (The Leviathan)

Also the hole that they dwell in, is hole-filled with many caverns and tunnels, like unto a bee hive.

It would make it easier to code to just add The Hive expansion to the Barrow. It could serve as one of many entrances to the hive that is being formed beneath Age of Fantasyland.

According to lore: the First of the Matrons, Lady Varrishka, was created when necromancers captured her as a vampire fledgling and experimented on her.

It was through this experimentation that these creatures became what they were. The lesser beings degenerated as a result, this made their hunger uncontrollable.

The Matron discovered the ability to telepathically control the Darklings, this made them Revere her as a sort of goddess, their queen. She also learned that she would be able to learn magic by natural discovery instead of study.

There will need to be a name change though, because there already is a necromancer unit in game.

Unless you wish to suggest a revamp on necromancer spells...

Undead Alchemist
Las Plagas Experimentor
Tormentor

Any likes?

Not bad,

So, what would set this unit apart?
By means of abilities that make him better than the average necromancer...
By means that he is to be recruited from the Barrow instead of the crypt with the other spellcasters...

He can buff the creatures coming from this place and no other necromancer could, also lets say that a regular necromancer manipulates and raises the dead but a high necromancer also creates his own monsters given to all his knoweldge and expirience woth daek magic and experiments

I don't see why not.

Troll Shaman has it.
This unit is likely to be twice as costly

Ok Gral.Sturnn,

Ancient Animation: animates armored skeletons, AOE 3,

Advanced Animation makes chance of animating lich (mage corpse), vampire (Corpse with sword) ghoul (corpse), or Armored Fire skull Thrower (corpse with bow)

It is a percent chance.

The most powerful of necromancers were able to summon creatures more powerful than vampires to do their bidding.
Besides, AI don't use mansion units like vampires a lot, would be nice to spice things up.

If you are adamant, what would you suggest?

Plague Priest isn't in yet...
