Coral defenses

Post by Sunrise Samurai »

Coral barrier
Built on water
Cost 3
Hp 50
Armor 5
P. Armor 15
Power 20
Actions 0

Powerful aquatic wall that slices apart attackers when they try to break through.

Coral beacon
Built on water
Cost 6
Hp 65
Armor 3
P. Armor 15
Power 5 (lightning weapon)
Range 8
Actions 1
Capacity 2
Spells: lightning storm

Comparatively weak for a tower, but can slow enemies down for your other troops

To build these, we add
Merman engineer
Built at sacred spring, tc
Cost 3
Hp 15
Armor 0
P. Armor 2
Speed 4 (water only)
Mend rate 8
Spell resistance 0%

Adding these helps elves catch up from being the weakest race in water based maps.

Elves could use costal defenses as well. This one has more actual flavor to it. The mermaids should maintain the same speed (5). If not, at least keep it at a healthy 4. I wouldn't see mermen as the greatest engineers, so the mendingis alright for me.

The coral beacon has a lightning storm spell handy, and staggering hp. It's cost should be 6, with it's hp knocked down to 65.

Edited. I really like the flavor this adds, plus the ability to flesh out merfolk as their own species allied with elves, rather than just one unit.

With this, elves still won't be that great in offensive naval power, but it should help contain the navy of other races until land units and air support can step in.

Why would they be trained for archery under water?

Merfolk are typically expected to use spears/tridents and nets. Sometimes clubs, and very rarely swords.

I think that coastal defenses should be added for every race.

Anyway I don't think elves are so weak in water based maps. They still have got the best ranged units and can really create an arrow barrage in most of the maps.

Bumping this back up. Coral could use some work and I might modify that tower a bit.

I have a new coral reef being done (I still have to add texture and make it less "colorful" currently I don't like the colour scheme I have them.) As for tower I also have a remade version, But, I could try making a tree that could work for their coastal tower instead, e.g. Swamp tree that has a lull ability that slows enemy units down that enter its aura range, it could also be garrisond and is effected by the parapet upgrade. Or it could have some other ability.

Thx, but which tree would look better for this? I might be able to keep the thunderstorm ability if I make the tree magical looking.

Green looks better. White one looks like it was snowed.
