English galley - too modern.
Giant ship with cannons - too modern (like spanish galleon type I presume)

ok it is in
- image needs modification to looks better like a carrack especially in ship body...
- it has 2 actions
- it fires arrows with 9 damage
- can carry 4 units.
- hp 110
- cost 10

tell me if i missed something important.

maybe an upgrade of this can make it being cannoned ship (?)

I thought its cannons with normal atks, arrow damage is too low as many units have high p.armor, this is a giant battle ship so should b useful against buildings

Give it normal atk, 6 (or 5 if its still op) range, and swordsman bonus to buildings, don't need bonus against ships or 1% if it has miss chance

If it's some translation for unit training.
Carrack can be trained by docks building after buying it in upgrades section for gems.
Galleon is an upgrade of it.

isnt this a late game unit? i think either this or its upgrade form should require gun powder tech since the upgrade uses cannon ball

It can be used without gunpowder. Gunpowder is only needed for effect action - Cannonball.

I was thinking of adding some new milestone techs - techs, which are only used as requirements to define progress.
In this case it could require some sort of sailing tech - something related to ship corpse construction or sails.

also i think it should b slower to allow triremes to actually reach it, with 5 speed and 4 fire archers, it can decimate any trireme from a distance, its quite hard to beat with anything other than another high hp carrack, make it 3 speed like battering ram, or it might b time to reduce fire archer bonus (and may b increase burning bonus on ships instead)

Carrack with 4 fire archers is 22 turn worth of units.
It's understandable, that with this investment comes some good survivability.

But I think carrack speed could still be decreased to 4.
3 is too slow imho.

Fire archers without blacksmith deal 12base damage to ships. Most ships have pretty high p.armor, so it's not horrendously big damage.

I will need to make a detailed check on which ships early game can survive 4 arrow shots (late game cannon ship can have first strike as they outrange carrack, but 2 max upgraded fire archers (which is likely by the time gun powder is researched) can destroy a single cannon ship

I actually asked stratego some time ago to make new stat - bonus power, which is added after bonus multiplication or change default calculation.
I wanted blacksmith and buffs to affect unit attack without bonus multiplication, as their counter is +armor, which is straight +1.

Also I think there should be blacksmith research counterpart for ships, especially now, as we already have something like this for towers.

Those two things would change much without making fire archers useless before archery research.

I like both idea

The"Navigation"could be shuc milestone, unlocking ships like carrack , may effect also " ocean liner' sight" in addition
Advancement center :Astronomy (could be default like writing )-->sectans and spyglass
(For flavor I'd really like this)


Just Example for blacksmith like,
Reinforced hull - +25%hp to transport battle ships , and requirement for Corsairs
Spacious cargo - carry upgrades.

Tho I think all such techs should be researched at

May b that idea about higher speed in ocean tiles will only b applied after researching some of the ocean techs as well as unlocking larger ships
