Woad Spearman IMPLEMENTED

A Spearman for the Celts/Woads. . .

Cost: 2
Hp: 12
Attack: 3
Range: 1
Armor: 0/0 (affected by warpaint)
Spd: 4
Action/Turn: 2
SR: 0

I like this but the celts will need a barrack when they are many enough to not replace the existing units with similar uses e.g Spearmen,Voulgier
I guess celtic warcamp would be a good name.

Given that the spear was a standard weapon for the Celts, I think his stats need boosting a bit.

I would be inclined to remove the second action too, it's not much use for a melee unit unless they have strong defence and decent HP

Increase to
Cost 3
HP 15
Attack 7
Armour 1/1 (it should be a big shield bearer - the archetypal oval Celtic shield - which would obviously slow it down to... )
Speed 3

A bespoke anti cav unit (which the Celts completely lack atm) with boni to suit.

Possibly with a legion training style boost to reflect shield wall?
I also play an RTS game called Life 8-)
And I also like drinking beer! :D

Spear was a standard weapon for most foot army units over all history, so it's not really a good argument.
But I am not eepecially against the idea.
Big shield wielders will all have bonus similar to hoplite once I add strategist building and all techs related to large scale formations, so it's not needed (we should focus only on balancing).
As for stats - assuming it would have bonuses scaled down to exact spearman damage vs mounted and more specific classes - it's perfectly viable.

Cheap two attack anti-mounted would be a fine addition too. Of course with 4 speed it would have very limited bonuses - two attacks would have to overall deal about 16-18 damage vs heavy cavalry, so around 9-10 vs light (and all the other uncategorised mounted).

So, real question is which one fits better to celtic culture.

I think the double attack would reduce its effectiveness as anti-cav because it would be half dead after first counter.

Then 1 action only. If it will focus on being an anti-cav.

This can only be trained in celtic barracks right?
