by Dgkfadomo777the rapier was a small but quick sword that can go through gaps in armour so it would be a have the properties of a swordsman but ignores all melee armour, takes 4 or 5 turns and made in barracks maybe less health or more.

Re: unit: rapier swordsman
He could be a cheap unit against strong armored units, like
Shielder or later maybe maceman.. and so on.

Sure. But I might vote for something else, you know.
Maybe, when Daniel has time, he can make us a new place in the forum for the votes.
Thanks!

Re: unit: rapier swordsman
There was one topic for votes already maybe balint made it?
About posting: please dont post response just make a response, post only if you have something to say, good/bad if you are not decided do not do that.( patroid: if someone does not respond that means he has no opinion, that is ok.)
As myself i can have 3 reasons
- i dont really like it so i wait for others opinion to see if they like it, or they even can change my mind
- i dont yet have opinion
- i did not have time to respond only to read it ( eg. Via mobile)

Re: unit: rapier swordsman
Do you have a specific idea of how it should look? It's super helpful to upload a pic for us to see kinda what you have in mind.

Re: unit: rapier swordsman
Rapiers were some of the finest swords money could buy, wearing a rapier was a sign of nobility. No "Cheap" unit would carry one. The rapier really only has one sword that could compete against it in a battle of best swords ever made and that is the katana. Yes I love the look of a Highlanders claymore and the utilitarian simplistic of the broad sword but the speed and finesse granted by a rapier was unparalleled and truly one of the inventions that gave Europeans the edge when ,especially the Spanish, to conquer the world.

Well.... an iron clad knight with a massive sword would probably be unfased by a rapier lol.
However, they were very effective as close combat weapons as gunpowder became more popularly used, and armor began to go extinct.

It is good, but the sword looks like a scimitar, not a rapier

Re: unit: rapier swordsman
I don't agree about the rapier being useful against heavy armored units. The rapier was mostly used in unarmored duels.
The real strenght of that weapon is in its lenght that allowed a certain fencing technique that is very defending.
A rapier swordman should be able to dodge melee attacks with a certain chance and be very mobile.
If you make it a faster unit (like speed 4) you might make it useful against slow units with a certain equation speed based
We might use a evasion chance like: 50+(unitspeed - enemyspeed)*15
That would allow him to dodge 80% against a shielder or a elephant

I have to say, when I first saw this topic "Rapier", I immediately thought about duels/fencing.Alexander82 wrote:I don't agree about the rapier being useful against heavy armored units. The rapier was mostly used in unarmored duels.

Then after reading through, I thought i was obviously mistaken about what was being discussed lol

Perhaps a 4/5 turn unit, with 2-strike ability like samurai; more mobile though.
