New texture pack (multiple units) - ANSWERED

Post by ollie444 »

Now I know the prospect of creating a new texture pack would horrify unit designers - but this requires no extra drawing!

The idea is simple - add an option for multiple-unit textures.
It would set the image of a unit to a scaled down, 2x2, 3x3, or even 4x4 square of the same images. It makes things look more realistic if you are playing on a large scale map, or just have a dog bigger than your church! Basically, it gives you a group of swordsmen rather than just one.
All it would require is simple coding, and would definitely add something needed in the game. Plus, it would be optional, so if you don't like it, it wont be shown.
Strong units, such as elephants and catapults would be displayed as 2x2, and smaller, weaker units 3x3 or 4x4.

Tell me what you think!

So normally you have battles between 2 or 3 soldiers, which is unrealistic as normally battles were between hundreds of soldiers. You could make it more realistic by display nine soldiers in each tile.

Sound good, but wouldn't that make the units rather hard to see?
