Maps marketplace
I have imagined that once we have a complete ondevice mapdesigner than anyone could make maps for himself, but would be better if
- anyone could post his/her map onto a public list
- to be in the list the map must fit a few requirements (you, me can be the moderators of these maps)
- once the map is accepted it appears to everyone
- anyone can search for the maps and download it to play.
- EXTRA: these maps can be paid maps, paid with GEMS! and the map designer gets all /or part of the prices paid for the maps /or eg. a 3 GEM map, and the designer will receive 1 gem for every 50 gems paid for his map
- also "like"-s, and ratings for these maps, maybe even commments
and so on.
what do u think?
-----------------------------------------------
Design:
1. requirements:
general
- anyone could post his/her map onto a public list (naturally if he/she does not want to publish, he/she can play it on his device by him/herself)
- to be in the list the map must fit a few requirements (you, me can be the moderators of these maps)
- once the map is accepted it it gets public, appears to everyone
- anyone can search for the maps and download it to play.
- EXTRA: these maps can be paid maps, paid with GEMS! and the map designer gets all /or part of the prices paid for the maps /or eg. a 3 GEM map, and the designer will receive 1 gem for every 50 gems paid for his map
- uploaded maps are no gem paying maps: all these maps uploaded will not bring gems to the player when he successfully completes the map.
- to be gem paying maps: if a designer sends me the new map (like with the current mapeditor) i can turn the map "official" / "builtin" normal gem paying FAN map or campaign.
Designing and uploading
- the map can be
-- individual skirmish map,
-- or a campaign as a pack of many maps
-- or an only terrain contained random map (where user can play random or multiplayer games)
- a published map can be revoked by its designer (for eg. releasing a fixed version)
- once the map is published than it can not be modified, a new "version" (actually a new map) with new mapID and map name should be uploaded by the designer (un-published map names can be used)
- payed maps and its updates: user can set an "anchestor" mapID in the uploaded map, indicating it is an update of a map, and if someone paid for the original map he will be able to download the descendant map too.
- the map can have an intro text html too, that can be uploaded with it.
the marketplace
-- can list individual maps, with little icon about the map, ordered by rating, or date of publish, and (later if there is too many) can be filtered by size, players, designer name, and other properties.
-- can list campaigns: without intro image, only campaign name and map count and so on.
-- user uploading the map can add a teaser text to invite others to try the map (preferably in english) - this teaser can be the first comment in the map comments section.
-- user can download a map that is stored on his device
-- user downloaded maps are also stored to the "account"
-- marketplace can only be used if the player is logged in
-- users can "like", and rate these maps/campaigns, and can write comments (all these can only be one from a user, so a subsequent rating will override the previous, also the comment is overwritten - like in google play)
-- uploading user can define a gem price for the map that all players should pay to download, uploader will get 1 gem for every 20 gem he receives from downloads. maximal price is 5 gem for a single map, and 30 gem for a campaign.
- anyone could post his/her map onto a public list

- once the map is accepted it appears to everyone

Re: Maps marketplace
Yep, although the gem system I am not a fan.
This has been mentioned a bit before but not really like this.
I THINK IT WOULD BE AWESOME FOR THE 1.0 VERSION!!!
You could also add a test mechanism where you test your own maps out.
Maybe even a campaign creator, too...
Although there could be a lot of maps to be moderated. How about a function where users can access unmoderated maps (warning given) and if ten people accept a certain map, it can be accepted. Or the more accepts a map gets, the high chance to be moderated...
But I +1 the idea!

Re: Maps marketplace
into version 1.0 this is not an option.
- full mapeditor - 1-2 days
- public mapeditor - 1-3 days
- this marketplace - 2-3 days
and i can work on this daily 1-2 hours (including every activity about the games - like emailing).
so it will not be ready soon enough...

Re: Maps marketplace
I believe that the full map editor would be awesome enough for the 1.0
And as soon as it will be out in testing I will surely be making my awesome campaign

Re: Maps marketplace
If time is a problem, I think version 1.0 should be postponed. This is a big milestone for the games development, it would be a great shame if it was not spectacular

Re: Maps marketplace
i started to write (this thread, first post) a little design section with my requirements to the "map-market", please write here as many other suggestions as you can.
thanks.
thanks.
Re: Maps marketplace
This is really cool! And the idea is well thought through and developed too!
It is really cool! And the GEM option sounds like a neat way for players to earn GEMs.
Will this be time consuming for you? What are some of the requirements?- to be in the list the map must fit a few requirements (you, me can be the moderators of these maps)
Would there be a way to create the .html text too?-- or a campaign as a pack of many maps
Would there be an easy way to moderate this to keep off spams or offensive language (so no one uses it to cuss out a map or designer)?-- users can "like", and rate these maps/campaigns, and can write comments (all these can only be one from a user, so a subsequent rating will override the previous, also the comment is overwritten - like in google play)

They are not collected yet, but it should be "cool"Will this be time consuming for you? What are some of the requirements?
(eg: must not contain dirty talk and such bad things, and also needs to be nice enough - we dont want bad content appearing in the app)
good idea, and yes i wrote it into the above planWould there be a way to create the .html text too?
I think first see if any of such unwanted things occur, if so we can put in moderation.Would there be an easy way to moderate this to keep off spams or offensive language (so no one uses it to cuss out a map or designer)?

Re: Maps marketplace
But i think 1 gem per 50 gems is too less.the maker should get at least 10% of what is being inputted.

Re: Maps marketplace
i started making it.
the uploading is ready, not for you, just for me yet (since no one can list and use them yet - that is not ready)
i am planning, here is my plan where to put them, tell me if you have better idea:
(map designs are free for their designers)

i am planning, here is my plan where to put them, tell me if you have better idea:
Code: Select all
Form hierarchy under "campaign" button below or above "Own maps" button.
"Map Market" button
1. "Skirmish maps" button
a) shows list of already purchased maps
b) on bottom a "purchase map" button
i) shows list of maps to purchase (not owned maps)
2. "Campaigns" button
a) shows list of campaigns (camp1, camp2)
b) on bottom "purchase map" button
i) shows list of campaigns to purchase
ii) by clicking on a map,
x) shows the list of maps in campaign (maps inside can only be downloaded sequentially)
3. "Random maps" button
a) list of purchasable random maps (on purchase will be immediately transferred into "random map list" when you start a random or multiplayer map, we have many random maps already, so some kind of categorization would be nice eg: ocean maps, mediterran maps, snow maps and so on)
(map designs are free for their designers)
Re: Maps marketplace
That looks like a good spot to put it. I think it should go under Own Maps. But when a campaign or skirmish map is purchased, should it just go to the regular "Campaigns" Section? Maybe a separate sub menu "Campaigns -> Market Skirmishes" Or something like that?
On each map or campaign it should have the name of the creator too
On each map or campaign it should have the name of the creator too
Thanks!

Re: Maps marketplace
Hi
I would dput the Map Marketplace and The MapEditor
Into one New area.
But i have no clue how to call it.
I would diviide Default Maps and the Usermade not published maps and not mix
Them into the Campaign section.
