Needs to be able to move in forested tiles. He is infantry, I don't see why not.

Because other infantry cannot see banners in forests, he loses his purpose in real life if he hides his banner in forests. He needs to b out in open to give the infantry the support of feeling like the majority in the war

Armies, Especially Barbarians, used banners even in Forests. It was what allowed them to distinguish one army for another. The only reason I don't use them is for the fact that they can't travel in Forests.

In short, it greatly Reduces their playability, with little in return (high morale) for those who aren't in Forests.

Ex: white plains with scattered trees, but trees are so numerous that you cannot march an army across the battlefield without leaving behind your banners, thus wasting recruit time and resources to be spent elsewhere.

I don't care if speed is reduced to 2, but it would be more playable if allowed in Forests.

Cavalry cannot travel nor be effective in forests, in real life, yet they still are allowed in AoS

I think if catapults had shorter, like 5 or 6 range then cavalry getting lower speed on forests like -2 speed would b acceptable, as for banner, u won't get any feeling of superiority or high morale while u r clashing with enemies deep in the forest and suddenly notice a group of soldiers on Ur side Cuz of banner, if its purpose is to just identify which soldier belongs to Ur team, it has no purpose in gameplay, but if it is used as a rallying point from a high and open region so that all scattered soldiers can see and know there is a kind of safe zone in that rallying point, they will feel more confident that they might survive the battle in that region for having a relative majority over there and thus their morale rises. I still stand by my opinion that for banner to act as a rallying point and not to identify who belongs to Ur side, it shouldn't move in forests, y not use drummer roman combo instead? These infantry will move 4 tiles in forests

Centurian costs 6, Drummer costs 3. =9
Banner carrier costs 4

Not everyone will play to Roman style.
Banner Carrier is more generic.

The point is, if one strategy (banner + common infantry combo) is good in every map then no body will use the other strategy (roman combo) in any map, and don't forget drummer can b made in tc while centurion needs roman garrison so different buildings together make both units relatively faster than 9 turns.

Also note, centurian is effective as heavy knight in combat WITH morale bonus.
Banner carrier just looks cool while providing bonus. Kinda needs more defense.

The point is to discover your fighting style and go with it. Not to switch 500,000 times to accommodate 1 treeline.

Wat is wrong with using different styles for different maps, if u stick with 1 best style forever its no different than worker-catapult spam,

Well I prefer different styles having different adv. In different situations, so I guess we can NVR agree with each other, its better to wait for other people and coolguy's opinions now

And for banner, don't forget their aura works inside wagon and transport ships, and there is no map that is fully forest, u just need to go around with wagon on longer paths

(And at least against me, if u don't use any wagon u will get annihilated b4 a single soldier reaches me ;) I use first strike advantage with wagons and super effective soldiers- pikes, horse and mace combo a lot)

This makes sense to me. One of the many reasons we went with the restriction for the banner bearer

@StormSaint373 @COOLguy There r other ways we can increase it playability,

Reduce cost to 3 turns as its stats r that of 3 turn infantry and it is sacrificing atk to carry banner (I always think 4 turn knight is better value for money than 4 turn banner.. )

Make banner also build able in barracks, they were not that rare in war and any infantry soldier could b assigned to carry the war banner since they don't need any special training (for example drummers would need to train on right drum beating rhythm for their army) they r just waving the banner,

Since its a topic about increasing banner playability these r just my few suggestions

Yes, I see. I would be open to building it from the barracks
