Ages or Tiers INPROGRESS

I plan to make some king of Ages or Tiers like in AOE ages were.

so i will need all production dates on all units, there is an extra column in xls for that, Q1: is there anyone willing to help gathering all production dates?

so if we know all than all games
1. can start with pre war units < '39 (player can build only these)
2. second age is '39-'42 (player can invent an "age tech" to enter this "age) that unlock these units
3. third age is '43-'45 (next tech) to unlock these units

or somethign like this - exact years can be tuned if we know all unit production start dates in xls


Q2: what do u think?

Yes. Yes. YES. But how about extending it to the ww1? Then this can really be the age of world wars. Maybe we can make an game option to start from certain tier? Would be cool.

ww1: definitely no, it seem ww2 will not be ever released at this rate, so we shouldnt bring in ww1 too :)
Maybe we can make an game option to start from certain tier? : definitely this would be a game create option.

Well he means the: 1. can start with pre war units < '39 (player can build only these)

yeah but he also mentioned that it is based on age of empires and thats how the "tier" and "age" thing works, it transfers from age to age with their own techs and units, but in this case they are conserved and not become obsolete

ok, it is in according to XLS coloring (colors mean which unit is in which "Age")

but still needs polishing:
1. AI should invent these - maybe it will already idk :)
2. in units list units that are on a higher age
a) should not appear
b) or should be able to turn off in list
3. in map setup it should be set if game starts in which age
4. should this "tech" be stealable?

Thus qould work better on Aos tho, the evolution of tanks during ww2 is pretty odd and it is nit very impactful but well anyways it stil soubds like an interesting concept

Apologies for being late to the topic.

I tested this out, and I must say I like the direction it's going. My first suggestion, though, would concern the names.

"Mid War" and "Late War" don't neccesarily make much sense, since you can unlock them relatively early in your battle, depending on the size of the war. And players would likely unlock them at different times, leading to the names being redundant and possibly even confusing. I would recommend changing the names to something like this:

<1939= "Industry Level I"
1939-1942= "Industry Level II"
1942-1945= "Industry Level III"

And perhaps we can lock Super Tanks and other special units behind a "Industry Level IV" Technology, though that would render the current Tank Upgrade Technologies redundant, so if this idea were adopted, we would have to address this issue.

What do you think of my idea concerning the names of the techs?
