NEW CONTEST: Historical maps
NEW CONTEST: Historical maps
AoS needs some more nice looking historical maps, so we are asking you to design some in a contest! The winner will
-receive gems
- the map will be titled to him
- his name and map photo will be posted on facebook
- also he can earn "moderator" grant in map market (since (s)he can make nice maps - so (s)he also can moderate them)
and some other things we can figure out.
and all nice looking historical maps will be implemented in the game.
We will be judging based on three criteria: 1) Historical accuracy 2) playability and 3) niceness of the map
-Please keep the history to the same period as the game (circa 1000 BC to 1500 AD) and please be able to provide information (ie a Wikipedia link) on the historical veracity of your map including a "battle overview image" as a requirement, as on all current historical maps.
-Smaller and tastefully triggered maps tend to be easier and more fun to play
-Terrain is important! It should be accurate and also nicely made (and decorated)
For those of you who remember our last map contest: I promise this will be more prompt. I will keep myself on a strict schedule. From now (June 9) until the 29 on June is submission time. June 30 to July 3 is judging; and results WILL be announced on July 4!
So you have about 3 weeks! Please make some cool maps!

How do we do this?COOLguy wrote:please be able to provide information (ie a Wikipedia link) on the historical veracity of your map including a "battle overview image" as a requirement, as on all current historical maps.
Re: NEW CONTEST: Historical maps
Just email us the info at some point. That way we can judge the accuracy of the map.
On historical maps, we generally link to Wikipedia anyway.

What? Why is this great tradition coming to an end? The DCPR was quite fond of the occasion...
The day is coming when a single carrot, freshly observed, will set off a revolution.
Re: NEW CONTEST: Historical maps
How about you make a map and win yourself like any self respecting map maker!

Re: NEW CONTEST: Historical maps
Dear Hardeep,
I love all your maps. They are all so much fun. I think you are a much better map maker than me, so I shall not compete in this competition, because I know your great map will win anyways. However, I also really like the gem giveaway that you host afterwards, I would very much enjoy it if you would please consider not destroying this great tradition. I hope you understand.

Someone on Facebook suggested something from the history of the Philippines. Or someone on YouTube suggested Turkish/Ottoman Empire history. You can look it up on Wikipedia.tamtam12345 wrote:Don't know history......

Very very cool Avalyn, I always found that battle epic and intruiging when I read about it in history

Re: NEW CONTEST: Historical maps
I am a relative newcomer to the game, but it is exactly what I have been looking for, so I will try my hand, why not? I will try the greatest Roman defeat, the battle of teutoburg Forest in 9AD. Hope I can compete with some of the other great map makers here, really enjoy all of them by the way. Thanks for the chance! Always looking for creative outlets for strategy!
Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak. If your enemy is secure at all points, be prepared for him. If he is in superior strength, evade him. If your opponent is temperamental, seek to irritate him. -Sun Tzu's Art of War

How do we send to dev?
That option is no longer useable (It is faded out and does not work when pressed )

"The beacons of Tunis! The beacons are lit! Rome calls for aid!"
"And the 6th and 7th legions will answer. Muster the legion"
(Hardeep-king strides out of the golden hall in full armour. Speaks to Eomer)
"Assemble the map at Dunharrow, as many men as can be found. You have two days, on the third, we ride for Zama... and war"
(Walks to Gamling)
"Gamling! Make haste across the Tunisia, summon every able bodied man to Dunharrow."
(Looks around at the banners of the rohirrim and the white hand all around him)
So... it is before the plains of Zama Regia the doom of our time will be decided
