Crusade maps/campaigns:

I have talked a lot with a AOS user/player who pointed that we should not make campaigns that are connected to sensitive religious matters: like the Crusades.

He suggested that
a) completely removing all such maps
b) or we talked (in a few email discussions) that also could be enough if we
- rename the map name to something else like: Knights ws Warriors or such.
- rename the units from crusader to knight
- rename "muslims" to eg. warrior.

what do you think about these?

I would gladly receive information about other games that use such maps / campaigns and how they name these campaigns and units there. (eg. in Age of Kings there are some campaigns about that era)

Patroid: please do not make such maps until it is stated which direction we go with AOS in this topic.

I say you can't change History, the meaning of the word History came from His Story. I live in a Christian Nation and Proud of it. The coin I have in my pocket says In God We Trust on it. I hope the prejudice of a few don't try to take over the game world as its trying to do in the real world. I say Good Day Sir!

I would just say it doesn't make sense to do option b.

I say leave the map. Just have a map where Salaam or whatever his name takes over Jerusalem.

Keep the game to the period which means historical maps/story lines are told.

I think its disgusting that someone even complained. This is history! For better or worse. Thats like saying that we should ban all religious and historical books from the library because some people believe in different religions.

I don't understand why thwy complain. THIS IS JUST A GAME! And the maps meant to present the historical vattles and the things that happened hundreds of years before. And by the way the crusades were not only because of religion, because it was meant to lower the number of the wandering knights. And just look at the crusade when they took ovwr Byzantine (hope I wrote right ).
If they have problems with crusade, they can make reverse maps, which I am already planning. When the Muslims attacked and destroyed most of my country, Hungary. But I am never complained about that because it has happened several hundreda of years before.
