As we have Roman Legionary unit, we could use some nice Roman historical battles in the historical section.
if anyone would make a map about a famous roman battle that would be awesome (with historical texting/images in the intro too)

thanks in advance!

Remember at legionary in AOS is legionary after Marian reforms (107 BC). Before that legionaries were mainly like hoplites supported by troops that throwed javelins. Rome had only small cavalry.

Legion after Marian reforms had "AOS legionaries" and same amount weaker equiped auxila forces. Legion had about 4200 legionaries, same amount auxila forces and 60 ballistas

After I finish my multiplayer map I'm working on, I'll work on a few Roman campaign maps. That would really be quite cool. Time to study ancient Rome :)

I Have begun work on a campaign following the life of Julius Caesar, which could tie in nicely with this topic. The campaign follows him from his first battle as a Roman grunt to his violent death as the most powerful man in the world. It will be quite extensive though, so I won't have it done for a while.
I could start work on a draft of the battle of Actium, one of the only naval battles in Roman history, as well.

Rome, under both the years of the Republic and Empire, wielded a mighty military that took part in hundreds of clashes with competing powers. Many of these battles were large-scale in character and resulted in tens of thousands of lost lives. They also resulted in great territorial gains for the growing Empire — as well as humiliating defeats.

Rome may not have always been victorious, but its army of citizen professional soldiers was legendary across the ancient known world. Here are 10 of Rome’s greatest battles.
