Augmentation

Basically tweaking the body to make it powerful (biologically). Research needs to be done, only then you need to make the special buildings, put units there, set what you want to augment (basically armor, damage, vision / accuracy), stronger units.

Be careful, too much of it can lead to side-effects. Berserker will rise from the already-fallen soldier that had too much augmentation, they had double the power, hp, and armour of the previous one. They run amok, meaning they will attack anything, friends or foes.

Sounds interesting. Berserk zombies doesn't sound like much of a drawback, since deaths mostly occur really close to the enemy lines.

I think you misunderstood, the berserk will come out right next to the augmentation facility / buildings, when modification done too far (so some kind of gamble, especially if you know he is close to the line).

The berserk will represent the soldiers that had their body gone mad after too much augmentation, and they will become a beast that cause chaos, their brain is dead so they attack everything on sight. (P.S : 2 attacks like Samurai may make him worth the opponent)

Thai for reptilians if we make it. Or maybe insectoids or myconids Humans prefer to adjust their bodies with mechanical stuff or replace themselves with such. Eventually they can use the chemical substances for temporary effect, but not biologicaly change their bodies. Let's say it's matter of technology, resources or even just cultural taboos. Essentially it's for gameplay diversity.
