Bone wall - IMPLEMENTED

Post by Sunrise Samurai »

I posted in the elf wall topic that it would be nice to have more unique walls for the different races than just blocking objects like the humans have. For the undead I think there could be a technology you can research to give walls the ability to transform into a bone golem, with the same remaining hp as the wall it came from, some added armor, and a strong melee attack. Vanishing 4, 2 movement, and no longer gives bonuses to siege attacks for being a building. It essentially can turn into a powerful melee fighter for a time when attackers are getting too close and the wall won't do any good without more troops to support it. This would again differentiate it from the plain, basic human wall we are used to so far when an undead player's walls start popping up and attacking the invading army instead of passively waiting to be destroyed.

The Vanishing counter was to ensure this can't be used to swarm with builder made units and bypass the limit on factory production based on TC count. Otherwise, it would be easy to keep building walls with swarms of builders and make golems. I think it can't transform back, and will vanish in 4 turns to keep it a good defensive option but avoid it becoming an overused foot soldier.

this is my wall, the golem i've made is on its own topic. btw i don't think the wall should be the same golem, but just an animated wall (like a wall made of bones were the bones themselves can move attacking the enemies but not moving).

As far as i can see the wall idea is different from the current tower-golem
Do you want me to make a little golem for the wall too?

Nice work on the walls! thanks Alexander! I also liked how u used the tower image on the turnings of the wall.
but there is still something i can not tell what, that makes it seem not to be a 3D wall, i will take time to get into it and try to show some modifications how to improve it, maybe looking for some sample images for guidace.

ok, but please keep those changes i made with the shading (eg. to make look more "hole'" like on the cornet "tower" sections where the "wall-top "road" enters.

I would, it is just that i can't use shading on team color (or it won't be recognized as team color.
I can just add some black pixels

Can bone walls be animated (like zombies)? Seeing whether there are units inside one, before transformation, is difficult.

I was thinking glowing eyes (a quick colour cycle, 4 frames or so) would do the job nicely. It would be great if all structures could have this for units inside them (even cities). Draws attention to the fact, and it's surprising how much you can do with a few frames, even with simple colour cycling on a few pixels.

I have no idea if there's units inside bone walls currently. It doesn't stand out enough.

It'd be useful for every structure though, just for "cool" factor. Nothing overboard, you don't want the graphics to become cluttered. But simple stuff would be nice.

If zombies can do it, in theory, everything can.
