Daniel are you tired? :) Did not quite understand what you mean. But I think so.
I mean to say "Historical Unit" not "National", I wanted it to be balanced with the Spartan which is kind of the most expensive unit, with different abilities.
I like the stats put forward by ejm earlier with the addition of conversion resistance (BTW I would like Samurai to be resistant too, I just haven't mentioned it yet). We can balance them better later if we feel they are op or too weak.

I really just want to have this new unit in the game! ;)
Thanks!

sorry for being ununderstandable.

what i ment: special national/historical units are not necessarily expensive in cost.

eg. see the Longbowman: that is a national/historical unit since it is a British special kind of archer - and only costs 3 turns.
so we can think of the hussar as knight variant, we can have similar properties with slight changes, we do not need to make him to be ultra-extra unit with extra abilities - however we can also make him such, but only if we want.

So my message ment to be only this: a special national/historical unit is not necessarily a costy one, it has different image and stats (some stats stronger, some stats weaker) then other similar units.

The "heroes" approach are the ones i can think of being much higher stats than similar units. Eg. an Achilleus would be unit with almost impenetrable armors or something.

The mentioned "Spartan" is a little a mixture of national/historical and hero units since they were all real heroes (at least the ones at Thermopule, the so called "300") :) :)

Another good example for my thought: in Age Of Empires there were hussars too, they have had wings too, they were upgrades of the light cavalry, they were cheap and fast but not so strong, a regular knight can hunt them down easily (since it has bigger attack and armor than the relative light armored hussars).

so it is not necessary to make such units them extra strong.

How about these for final stats?

Cost 6
Hp35
Attack power 12
Range 1
Armor 0
Pierce armor 2
Speed 6
Sight 4
Action/turn 1
Spell resistance 100%
Size 1/1
Builders tc, stable

I edited ejm's slightly- they were very balanced anyway.
Thanks!
