Some units and technologies are not findable in the upgrade tree. This is because you get them from the start. I call them "core" units. I believe castle is one of those. Note though in some campaign maps the list of available units, techs and spells can be limited by the map creator. Not ...

Not just assassins, spies too. Beside of stomping them you can't damage enemy invisible units. For area damage it seems weird they are not hit by it.

Also, yes, TC distribution is an important factor. For 20x20 maps I would at least advice to use the High option for TC count next time. It should be easier to battle 5 to 7 instead of 3 to 5.

If anything in this way is implemented I think there really needs to be some indicator how much is given unit going to heal and how long will this effect last. And Help should then explain if such self-healing takes places before poison and automatic turns from nearby ally healers or later.

Sounds reasonable. Even better could be to have AIs with several strategies of what to prefer building in which order and randomly pick at the start of some maps.
