How about if these dragons are bigger and more ancient than the dragons that other races allied with? So this race is a group of ancient dragons that stick to their tradition to prepare the world by eliminating every germs (other races) for the great beings to come.

Alpinis also climb mountains. But it's ok for the German to get mountaineer infantry with moderate cost.

There are many nations that have mountaineer infantry division in ww2. So it is not really unique. But it can be normal units without gems.

My orc army consisted of: Orc warriors (upgraded), Armored warrior, orc shaman, wolf rider (upgraded), wagon, a few uruks, sometimes goblin archer. I always win with these units against elf AI. You can always put a buffed wolf rider inside a wagon.

Spliting goo is a good idea. Once the goo is big enough it can split itselves. I think you should make anti-cavalery unit (ratmen spearman?),mayby anti-archer and mage too. This unit costs 4 turns and have a very strong attack. This unit is trained in chained condition (slow speed but controlable and no attack power). This unit can be unchained and will be uncontrolable by player and attack anyone including your own units. Built in volcanoes/TCs.

Or maybe innstead of temple of fire, the lizardfolks can choose between 3 elements for their temple. If they already made one temple for one element, they can't build another one with different element. Each element will give different strategy and unique playstyle for lizardfolks.
