I think this is a good idea. it would be very cool to be able to create historical armies, even if the abilities of certain types were the same. this means just different artwork to represent different nationalities/eras. of course also representing those special unit abilities to create the flavor ...

also moving one makes it pretty ineffective. most games won't last that long unless it is a special scenario, or they can be built near the walls.

we have quite a few things that already fit this description,,, by the time they are built and can be moved, the game is decided or over.

thanks. I just beat it. took 6 tries. apparently the game is so well balanced winning is determined by whether the gun boat in the middle destroys one of the cav or one of the the cav barracks or not. on the first 5 tries, I lost one or the other. on my last try, his shot went wild. I have 28 upgrades. I think it means if you select "10", it will randomly select 10 upgrades from my list of 28.

I had thought of the jerkiness of the camera. that's why I thought perhaps dividing the map into quarters or so. this would be a "compromise" solution. perhaps 5 camera positions. 4quarters and an equal sized quarter focused around the center. this would minimize camera movement and allow ...

just in case I was confusing, I thought I'd ask again. when we gain a tech, the camera goes to the building it was created in. can you do this during the AI turn for combat? especially with a big game, its tedious to search the whole board to see what the AI has done, and what casualties have happen...

to be excited about getting gems and upgrades is pretty cool.

however there are too many games out there where the first scenario shows a promising game, then to win the second game you have to purchase in-game upgrades to advance.

well, this is a medieval game and things were slow, ponderous, and hard to control.

now if this were during the time of Frederick the Great, it would have to be by nation, and from Napoleon on, all could move on the diagonal.

I vote to leave it as is, it adds flavor.
